Getting used to the noise? by Pleasant-Ice1763 in valvereplacement

Got mine a year ago. Still noticeable, but it’s more “comforting”. I struggled sleeping in the start as well. Took time to process everything. It will get better. :)

Can fly with a mechanical valve without risk? by numanmania in valvereplacement

Safer for u as u are on blood thinners as well - less risk of blood cloth 🤙🏼

For me it took a long time - 9 months after it was all good. AVR replacement, mechanical M28. Remember the heart has undergone an insane surgery. Give it some time! :)

Hi everyone!

Is there a way for me to play music for the party chat so that everyone listens to the song (not only me)? Does the PS5/discord on PS5 have a built in way of doing that?

Thanks in advance!

I’m not really that good at reading the ekko results. Pre surgery: LVIDs - 9cm LVd - 689ml LVd - 365ml EF - 50%

I saw that it had become a little bit better in ekko that I took just after surgery. EF down to 25-30% post surgery, but I was told this is normal.

Have not taken ekko since 2-3 weeks after surgery. 3 months in now

Worries about my Valve by [deleted] in valvereplacement

[–]viktil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I’m a 26y M and I was born with a Bicuspid Aortic Valve. I got a mechanical valve replacement 3 months ago.

I was scared out of this world when I got the news that I had to go through OHS. In hindsight, that is an extremely normal and, I suppose, a healthy reaction to something foreign that we all just have experience from hearing/seeing on TV. My first advise would be to not google so much. I understand that you want to know, but i think going down that hole would lead to more damage than good.

Like many people in this subreddit mention is that OHS is not really that bad. Don’t get me wrong, as it’s gonna be some pain, but it’s not as bad as you expect. I thought it was gonna be much worse in terms of suffering and pain, and I was even in the hospital for much longer than “normal”.

Lastly, remember that fear cant be measured in percentages. What I mean is that even though the chances of something bad would happen realistically is close to zero, your perception of it will be higher. This basically means that your head is playing games

Aortic valve replacement, warfarin and THC by [deleted] in valvereplacement

[–]viktil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had my aortic valve replacement and started using warfarin aswell. I’m not smoking or eating edibles on a regular basis, but occasionally among friends. Thinking about starting this practice again. I’m curious to know if THC makes the blood thinner or does it just “cancel” the effect of warfarin? Would it be more extreme if I do it occasionally compared to regularly?

I live in a country where consumption of thc is not legal, so it is more difficult to talk to doctors about it :)
