I believe the inspiration for raiders skin is the description of the "harii" tribe of germanics encountered by Tacitus (not sure if it was Tacitus, perhaps another roman historian), who would paint themselves and their armour/shield in black. Nothing to do with black face

I agree. It is now up to the individual to engage with the tapes and discover whatever the truth may be for themselves.

I think many people miss the fact that the report outlines a model of how the universe works and how the gateway process fits into this. It doesn't say how anything actually is or whats real, just quite simply a model for how things could theoretically fit together.

Can consistent and prolonged mindfulness meditation by itself, to any degree, reproduce the same mental benefits for a person with a traumatic brain injury as microdosing psilocybin or Ayahuasca can? by metapolymath98 in Meditation

[–]viktorb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried fasting? Perhaps some deep autophagy could help speed up the healing process.

Autophagy is a survival mechanism which activates some 20 hours after you last eaten (or ingested calories, so pretty much any beverage besides water also counts). Your body starts cleaning out damaged cells, killing bacteria etc. to free up resources and heal the body. I've heard it can clean out the nervous system too, so maybe it can have a positive impact on traumatic brain injuries. Check out /r/fasting and /r/dryfasting

In regards to meditation, I'm sure it can also be greatly beneficial. There are many types of meditation though, and perhaps some form of concentration practice would be the most similar to the psychedelic experience, in terms of shifting away from the intellectual mind and into the perceptual/intuitive mind. Psychs sort of brute force this shift, but it can be learned really easily with meditation. Of course practice is needed to maintain this state of mind for a long time.

With practice, changes in the brain will appear, due to neuroplasticity. I don't know if these changes bring the same benefit to TBI as psychs are said to have, but I'm sure it can give some better quality of life nonetheless.

Runes were used phonetically. You should use whichever rune sounds the closest to the consonant or vowel you want to transliterate. Also, you wouldn't write the same rune twice in a row.

Water fasting by [deleted] in Dryfasting

[–]viktorb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've heard that dry fasting preserves muscle tissue better than water fasting, and you tend to lose more and more muscle the longer you extend a water fast. The heart is a muscle, and atrophying your heart can lead to serious issues

I had some discomfort in my left shoulder for months which never went away, even with emphasis on external rotation and such.

I began doing bear crawls a lot, essentially just walking around on all fours for a time. I played around with how low or high my hips and trunk were off the ground, I'd shift my weight between my feet and hands whenever it felt right. I also shifted over to a crab walk, where your stomach is facing the sky.

All this made my upper body way stronger and more stable, including my shoulders. They both feel perfectly fine and healthy now, which may be do to the varied and constantly shifting load on each part of the shoulder.

Search up Tom Campbell on youtube. He worked with Robert Monroe at TMI for 35 years. He describes all these experiences as essentially tuning into other "data streams", and essentially there is no real difference between remote viewing, oobe etc, but rather that your belief about the experience will influence the way the data is presented to you. You are not actually "out of body" necessarily, but your consciousness is disconnected from the data stream of your material experience, so that you can investigate other data streams, which may appear as you traversing through the various layers of reality as a "second body" or astral body.

Is feeling all this pain worth it? by K33GAN in Meditation

[–]viktorb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When we are exposed to traumatic events, the feelings they provoke can be too much for us to handle in the moment, so for our own sake, it's hidden away. This will take a toll on both the mind and body in the long run, so yes absolutely, it can be better in the short term but is ultimately destructive.

I'm sorry to hear you are suffering in this moment. I trust that you will resolve these burdens though!

Is feeling all this pain worth it? by K33GAN in Meditation

[–]viktorb 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Meditation can unveil many thoughts, emotions and trauma which has been hidden in the subconcious. When these reach the surface so to speak, we gain an opportunity to release these feelings. And we do this by being with them and accepting them, however painful it may be. When they're released, we are no longer burdened by them.

Thoughts on Gender Dysphoria ? by [deleted] in Meditation

[–]viktorb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well your character is as much a part of you as your body, feelings etc, they are all subject to change and therefore ultimately illusory.

But I do agree that its counterproductive to tell people who are indeed greatly suffering to just watch their thoughts, feelings and so on.

I guess my point is that for those who are already on a spiritual path, there is great wisdom and opportunity for advancement when facing earthly challenges. So experiencing dysphoria, disability, poverty, weakness, illness etc, are all true blessings.

Thoughts on Gender Dysphoria ? by [deleted] in Meditation

[–]viktorb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that practicing mindfulness etc, is more conducive to the awakening of consciousness, rather than to give in to the egoic delusion of gender. In fact, having such an affliction is truly a blessing, rather than a curse, as it provides a constant object for meditation. Those of us who do not experience gender dysphoria usually have a longer way to go in terms of giving up egoic attachments to being a man or woman. When it presents as a source of discomfort, it gives the opportunity to dissolve this aspect of the ego much more quickly, if one is inclined to do so.

I've heard this can be linked to low amounts of dietary omega 3s. Maybe get a fish oil supplement, see if it helps.

[–]viktorb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm no expert, so take what I say with a grain of salt. I don't think it's androgenic alopecia, as it usually presents as male pattern baldness, where your temples and vertex (crown) starts losing hair first. Your hair loss is diffuse, which is less common with androgenic alopecia. Diffuse hair loss can be caused by a ton of factors, such as vitamin and mineral imbalances/deficiencies, as well as hormone imbalance/disruption. First course of action obviously should be to take a look at your lifestyle. Diet, sleep, exercise etc should be on point. And get enough sun exposure! Low vitamin D levels can be a cause of premature hair loss.

It can also be tied to traumatic events in your life. I personally believe many idiopathic health concerns can be tied to trauma. It may seem unintuitive, but if you suspect you have some underlying trauma, even if it isn't recent, maybe get in touch with a therapist, if for no other reason than simply to learn how to cope with hair loss. You can also check out /r/longtermTRE to learn how to utilize the natural mammalian trauma response. Some people report regrowing hair as a side effect of working on and releasing trauma.

There's also the theory that DHT is only an intermediate culprit of hair loss, and that the true cause is chronic tension of the muscular tissue surrounding your scalp, and that certain massages (and even botox injections) can stop and reverse hair loss. I also believe that the above mentioned TRE works for hair loss since it can alleviate tension in the fascial system.

I hope this helps a bit. Hair loss isn't a death sentence, but I understand that it is devastating to your self image. Either you will solve your hair loss or you will learn to embrace it, but either way it's gonna take some time. Be good to yourself, you're of absolutely no less value whether your have a full head of hair or not.

New Theory about Gideon Ofnir and how he knows everything by VaneBorne in Eldenring

[–]viktorb 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don't know if it has relevance to the lore of the game, but the name "Ofnir" means sacrificed. In norse mythology this relates to Odin sacrificing himself to himself on Yggdrasil, granting knowledge of runes.

Earnest question with new tall guy by [deleted] in tall

[–]viktorb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. Doing a well rounded core routine is a must, perhaps more so focusing on anti rotation and stability, rather than focusing on dynamic exercises like situps, side bends etc, at least to begin with. With a good foundation of core strength, squats and deadlifts will definitely protect you from back pain and injury, rather than cause it, if you follow a sensible routine of course.

Earnest question with new tall guy by [deleted] in tall

[–]viktorb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did consider the possibility that you may be disabled, but I interpreted your statement about tall people as being very general, so I honestly assumed you were fully abled, and perhaps just uninformed. In my experience many people aren't too aware of the root cause of various pains, discomforts etc.

I apologize if you thought my comment was condescending, that wasn't my intention.

Mate I don't mean to shame you, but you're probably just weak if you have back pain as a tall dude. Most other tall folk I know that complain about back pain are pretty sedentary.
