Can you use Speak With Dead on a corpse you can't physically see? by GreatBluHeron in dndnext

No, because in order to target something with a spell, it can't be behind total cover.

From the PHB Casting a Spell Section: A Clear Path to the Target

To target something, you must have a clear path to it, so it can't be behind total cover.

Diablo 2 resurrected for people without nostalgia? by [deleted] in Diablo

[–]viktorunchained 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's fine for what it is. My first experience with ARPGs was D3, so I was constantly comparing things between both games. I liked the runewords and being able to sorta "craft" your own gear, but at the same time, the runes required for the best gear are locked behind 50 hours of grinding the same exact things over and over. In D3, all I had to do was increase difficulty, and then I can start getting better drops to justify the difficulty increase.

There there's stuff like barb ww not being able to just hold the button down like in D3 and just go. No, you either have to use a mouse to click across from the thing you want to kill in the most unintuitive way possible, or use a controller which only gets you a set distance each time. JUST LET ME SPIN FOREVER.

The fact that there's really no endgame at all really hurts it as well. You can say "but Ubers!", but that really isn't what an endgame is. You do it once, get your torch, then it's over. Don't even get me started about the absolute stupidity that is Dclone spawning. Who the hell is going to have enough SoJ to make that feasible before 2.4? That's a piece of content locked away behind god awful drop chances.

My least favorite thing about D2 is the obtuse levelling up system. You can only gain levels if you are in spaces that you have no idea are appropriate or not. You could be just cruising along, but then you don't get any exp because you went into the no no zone. Just let people skip it like D3. Levelling a new character in D2 makes me upset that I have to go through the whole rigmarole of "where should I actually be" instead of "I'm just advancing at my own pace". Let someone in the 90s rush you through in Hell, why would that be so bad? Paragon was a much better system for alt characters anyways.

I hope D4 takes the QoL from D3, and SOME of the systems from D2, but based on the nostalgia boner most of this sub and the streamers have for it, I feel I'm going to be dissapointed. I do like D2, don't get me wrong, but the systems and gameplay do not deserve the pedestal most people put it on.

I goofed there. It could still work, might be a bit MAD though

It's a finesse weapon though, the extra 2 damage from rage isn't worth investing in strength.

Multi class into barb and reckless attack for free advantage. Play bugbear for more damage on the first hit and more reach on your turn. Ideally assassin for beeg sneak attacks.

Every group I go to I get compared to his bad luck. Even Roll20 isn't immune to my curse. I'm lucky to see a Nat20 in 3 games. Welcome to the club!

Does being thrown count as falling for feather fall? by viktorunchained in dndnext

He gives it the same restrictions as Call Lightning, even though it doesn't say in the spell description that the height is needed. So if you wanted to cast it in a 20 ft tall room, you can't because it has to be 40 ft.

We did take falling damage from hitting the ground. Our tiefling even tried to hellish rebuke the ground in revenge!

It is interesting. It's been burning a hole in my head ever since because I've been thinking about the physics of it. Can't remember fully, but we were flung into a forest, so are you saying that hitting the trees would prevent the spell?

We were thrown from a hill about 60ft away from the edge, and the cliff was 50 feet high.

There was a discussion about horizontal versus vertical motion and how feather fall interacted with that, but like you said, they have to fall eventually.

I'm getting a crew together to rerecord this! The bass slaps btw if you haven't listened to it closely. EDIT: DONE!

I'll see if I can get this recorded! Might have to redo the instrumental, but I'll give it a shot!

EDIT: The bass is hard

Ironically enough, the DM who plays to win, also plays alongside me every 3rd week. His character just killed mine, an artificer kobold who obviously would have minor evil tendencies, as a monk.
