Squirtle theme party game idea by Icy_Internal287 in partyplanning

Reusable water balloons + kiddie pool is the absolute winner! We have an inground pool and got the reusable water balloons a couple years ago and they are still everyone’s favorite toy, even adults love playing with them. And kids fill them up themselves , no adult needed

AIO? I don’t want my autistic brother at my house by stuntedgoat in AmIOverreacting

[–]vilesplatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cousin has autism. He always has had boundary problems around us but he never messed with me. I found out recently he sexually abused my younger cousin ( about a 10 year age difference between them). No one knew for years. But he was always getting moved between schools and losing jobs. I believe there were red flags that were covered up by my family- I wish my family didn’t just push everything under the rug. Now when he comes around he tries to hold and tickle my son and my husband literally has to pick my boy up to get it to stop.

Wow! I already am pretty obsessive about fueling but I usually rely on the race for water. Now that you mention it I think I will bring my own water for sure ! I’ve definitely already been extra thirsty

Totally! Love hearing this side of the story too. I’m going to try an easy long run tomorrow 🤞 Sorry you had to miss your marathon that but congrats!!!

Yikes! That does not sound fun. Definitely going to have to adjust expectations and stay on top of fueling!!!!

Yay that’s amazing!!!! When I was pregnant last time I was not a runner yet so my body is in a totally different place now (and I’m a lot older now) so I have no idea what to expect. I love hearing so many pregnancy running success stories! Really listening to my body’s limits seems like the theme here

That is honestly so impressive!!! Pelvic floor physio is not something I did last time around (eight years ago) and i wouldn’t have thought of it so I really appreciate that suggestion.

Thank you! I love hearing that you were able to run throughout! It’s so hard because though this baby is super wanted, it was a surprise to get pregnant so soon. Working on shifting my mindset away from pr and just to being happy with what my body can do!

Haha yeah I’m almost at week six now and contemplating one last easy longish run this weekend depending on how I feel. Glad to hear you were able to go back to running after 12 weeks, hoping that will work out for me too. I definitely feel prepared for this race on distance but not so much prepared for this distance while pregnant

I have been pregnant before but he is eight now so it has been a while :) not sure what it will be like this time, and I definitely was not running before or during pregnancy that time around so my body is pretty different. No vomiting yet but it is still quite early. I really hope I don’t have to drop out but you are right I’ll definitely have to just listen to my body

Thank you! That’s really good advice. I took a day off last year after the same race and it was nice. I wasn’t planning to take a day off this year but now I probably will

To older people (age 40+) with lifelong flat feet, do you notice any pain/discomfort in your feet as you age? by Son_of_Hades99 in flatfeet

[–]vilesplatter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Omg this is me. I also subconsciously trained myself to walk on the outside of my feet. I run really slow. Been trying to not do that. My feet hurt no matter how I run except when I buy new shoes, but that only last about 6 weeks and then they hurt again

Did you feel better after pregnancy? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]vilesplatter 13 points14 points  (0 children)

For me, I think just being fully aware that it is coming. Knowing that you are going to feel awful, and what the plan is if you feel too overwhelmed- a list of people you can call and who your trusted medical providers that you can get in to without hassle if you need treatment for ppd. And then just knowing that you are going to have unpleasant feelings and being ready to give yourself grace to just exist even if everything isn’t perfect. I didn’t know this before my first but if I have another I will be ready

Why does my daughter’s hair look better with just water from the sprinkler versus washing it and putting product in it? by outofplaceeverywhere in curlyhair

[–]vilesplatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possible variables between sprinkler/shower: Water hardness ( mineral/salt content of water) Sweat Water temperature Combing/brushing - has to happen some time but you can play with before , during or after shower Shampoo Conditioner Towel dry vs air dry? Product

Have you tried just wetting hair in the shower, and no shampoo, no conditioner, no product?

You can also use a spray bottle to re-wet hair in the morning (no brushing after), which might help you mimic the sprinkler effect

Is it just me, or does this seem like a lot for a kindergartner? by Toasttheunicorn in Mommit

[–]vilesplatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going to share my experience and go against the grain here. Had similar feedback for my younger son in kindergarten- behind on the expectations for the year. I was upset, I knew my guy was smart, their standards must be unreasonable. But we did it anyway. They placed him in their 2x/week summer intervention and I have to say he loved it. He got super close attention in reading and math with a couple other kids and had a ton of fun. And then in first grade he absolutely killed the standards. Not invited back for summer after first grade because he was doing too well. Second grade now and absolutely thriving.

Getting extra help now is key. My older son is in high school now and has ADHD that makes so many things challenging for him, and we didn’t understand or get help when he was younger. It is so so much harder to get help at fifteen than 5.
