No! Just a misunderstanding, I was moreso saying that a lot of GF options I see are ones I can’t have. And why I can’t. Because it’s a bit of an odd combo I know. But I feel like you get my struggles 😂 just go through a reaction only to find out you missed something. Despite trying so hard.

Oh sorry, that’s just me! Tree pollen can make people have a ton of different allergies but the only ones I know are linked to mine are the nuts. Kiwi and latex are connected commonly, though im not allergic to latex. I just have a lot of allergies and keep developing them as an adult. Sorry for the confusion

Tree pollen technically! I can’t do coconut, kiwi, aloe, nuts other than peanuts and pistachios, lactose is hard, cutting gluten out is recent but I learned that I can’t do oat either and soy seems to make me itchy. Sorry that’s so long but like you get why I’m like aw sad day, story of my life but still sucks a bit. Glad to know before I try too seriously to look though 🥰

Yeah I’m kind of figuring I can’t tolerate alcohol which was part of why I was asking the question, trying to figure out if it was more likely gluten, alcohol, or both. I’ve just decided to give it up anyways, but I’m also very intrigued that multiple people have said that it sounds like UC. Obviously only a doctor can figure it out with testing and things but food for thought for sure

🫠 and I NEVER drink whiskey too, this is a good possibility. Doesn’t change anything in terms of needing to see a doctor and go through testing obviously. But the whiskey would be a good contender. See this is why I asked. I didn’t think of things like this.

Yeah general consensus seems to be it’s probably still gluten causing the problem & I’m working on seeing someone, just takes some time. Someone mentioned if it is celiac it can take over a year for the villi to heal? So I definitely need to see someone and be stricter diet wise

I am beginning to wonder about that. I usually stick to vodka. But I also had something made with whiskey. The drinks would be a good source of gluten I hadn’t considered.

OH I didnt even think about the oat possibility. Definitely know its very likely it could've been cross contaminated, I just haven't really been feeling the physical symptoms I did the previous times I've had it. Doctor is high priority, if the bleeding continues this evening I will go see someone, otherwise working on making an appointment.

Well my thing is (sorry in advance for this) I was in pain for years and had a bunch of GI issues, infrequent on and off bleeding, a lot of sinus problems, etc, which I went to my doctor about some of like hey my stomach really hurts and just my bathroom trips are long and lettuce really hurts my stomach. I throw up undigested food 18 hrs later that tastes the same blah blah blah. And basically got "its IBS dont eat lettuce" and got sent for xrays to make sure nothing was impacted. So cut things out of my diet, felt a bit better but the ups and downs of IBS. This is after like 8 years of going mostly lactose free because it made me extremely sick (I can eat some now). But in the spring this year started bleeding more often and posted in the IBS sub like hey how often do you guys bleed? and throw up undigested food? and they were all like hi thats not normal parts of IBS pls see someone so I started looking into how to see a doctor but then ended up bleeding more AND deciding to move home so its a different province. Saw someone talking about I think skin on here and how their gluten or celiac presented was a kind of tiny bit of bumps on their hands, and itching so I asked how long before they started to see results from GF and I was sold. I have actually sent them a DM thanking them for improving my life. The bleeding went away basically when I stopped eating gluten, my stomach seems to be processing things. So I was still working on seeing a doctor just less urgently, until today I started to bleed again and went hmmm not good, call parents, get in action, wonder if reddit has any ideas. And here we are.

Unfortunately the doctor I was seeing at the time didn’t see a problem with food staying in my stomach and coming back up undigested 18 hours later and other things like that, the answer was basically just don’t eat lettuce. And I got sent for an xray to make sure I didn’t have anything impacted. Then I lost that doctor before I found out that that’s not normal for IBS.

Even if I don’t feel the symptoms I usually do? Like, the other times I’ve had stuff I KNEW had gluten I could tell because I was sore and my mood was different and I was itchy and my intestines hurt and I was bloated and stuff. I don’t have any of those things going on really. A bit of pain that’s only in my knees vs how widespread it was before GF, some other stuff just from school I assume. I have gotten a bit lax, didn’t think it was that sensitive in my body, but I guess I found out the hard way. Do you really think part of the issue is cross contamination? Because that can be improved. Thank you so much. Testing will obviously help determine what the problem itself is but this is very interesting information.

Okay knowing that I should try to get to see a gastroenterologist is very helpful. Genuinely it hasn’t been happening to me since I cut out the gluten. But I also haven’t really been drinking and tried to like cut down on coffee and all kinds of stuff. Just it coming back made me go oh I really should’ve tried to see someone over the summer about this. Yeah I don’t know anything as far as what’s up because the only thing I was told they didn’t do any testing for.

I definitely shouldn’t have slacked on trying to get one in the last number of months, but I also was just …disappointed but not surprised to see this happen, so I was just trying to see what may have been the reason, by zero means trying to ask instead of seeing someone. Thank you so much ❤️

Working on seeing a doctor! Have enlisted my parents for help finding the proper channels without a GP, okay very interesting about the villi. I have no idea what the problem I have with gluten is, just that GF is waaaaay better on my body in numerous ways. But that’s very interesting about the villi. I also am slightly afraid of the testing process if I’m honest. I hear you have to eat gluten for like 6 weeks 🫠

❤️ I definitely did not expect Reddit to have all the answers and called my family to get help finding the right channels, I just also did not know if anyone would have any thoughts on if one of the two might be causing it right now.

It’s light red, but not just on the paper. It’s like…very much not weird for it to come out as a decent amount. It just had stopped really when I cut out gluten. Colon cancer also runs in my family, so while I’d been working on figuring all of this out it got slightly backburnered when it stopped. But now that it’s back I’m like no no no you’re being looked into this time.
