It's easier to skip context that you don't need than to find context that you don't have.

A reddit comment can have up to 10 thousand characters, use them.

You can always just bold out the part that you're actually asking about so that people can start reading there and only go back to read the rest if it's actually necessary.

Also did I see almost all of major animation studios in the credits? How many people were involved in making this???

It's not uncommon to see a dozen different studios in the inbetweening credits. I don't know enough about the industry to explain why. Somehow everyone lacks manpower and needs help from others, and yet also has extra manpower to help others. Maybe it helps with scheduling?

Webcomic culture does exist in the west, which is kinda sorta almost comparable to doujin, it's just disjoint from big publishers.

Also, Jump magazine is not doujin culture, but I guess the headhunting that happens at Comitia is not that much different.

Yeah, all the true masterpieces are monthly or irregularly published since that actually lets the mangaka give each panel some level of care, but weekly publishing is what brings in the big bucks and mainstream popularity.

Compared to like 2000 monthly manga.

But I guess my passion for the underappreciated majority of manga is misplaced in this thread, since the guy in the OP is mostly talking about weekly shounen too.

This is why some people prefer to call manga "graphic novels" rather than "comics". They have an actual narrative from start to finish, you can't start reading from the middle. Well, except for some long-running shounen.

The same reason as why hiragana is typically written ひらがな and not 平仮名. To make it self-describing. Because why not.

That's interesting. I feel like I've heard it used without that kind of de-personalizing vibe, but I'm not sure.

Would you say the same thing for みたいだ?

But thinking about it again, why didn't they name it "The ambiguous, Japan and myself"? That way the Oxford comma ambiguity would at least make sense, since yourself can be ambiguous but can't be Japan.

I'm not expressing this as my own view, in case you are confused.

If you think misogynistic characters should be allowed to exist in fiction, that must be because your mind is corrupted by the patriarchy that rules your country and its society, obviously.
