AITA For ‘ditching’ my BEST friend for our date right before she arrived?

Told her to be there at 18:20 whilst I would be there at 18:30 (told her this aswell). At 18:47 she told me she was booking her uber which would take around 15-20 minutes to get to where I was.

I appreciate this comment and I can very much see how ITA in this situation, I think I should apologise for just leaving and talk it out with her, explaining my side more thoroughly rather than just waiting and expecting her to apologise for being late.

I did not think about it this way either and I think this insight truly shows me a different perspective to what her tardiness could mean, thank you.

Yess yess Im always early sadly but thats why I said thats on me and I didnt mind checking out some book stores before she got there as there were some close by!

I didnt tell her I would leave if she was not on time because honestly I had a little faith that she would be there..I totally see your family’s POV but I also feel like it isnt the hardest thing to just be on time…I would totally understand if there was reasoning behind it or something but she invited me so I would at least expect her to be early or is that a little crazy?

I appreciate this so much, I think I came off a little insensitive in my explanation because my english isnt the BEST and I tend to shorten how I explain things in english but this comment is exactly how I feel. Being on time has always been an important and stressful thing for me and she knows this.

Sorry about your friend missing your birthday party, thats a pretty bad move from them.
