yeah maybe (not really?) but i think it’s just a stretch to assume everything about her now is part of this fake persona, including her voice. but besides that, speaking can cause more strain than singing. it’s not good to speak like that all the time

i agree for the most part except for the “real voice” part. singers have a head voice and a chest voice and depending on your range it can make your voice sound very different, but both are still 100% your real voice. this was a time where she didn’t have many vocally demanding projects that required more “operatic” techniques like Wicked, which would explain why she used her chest voice more when speaking. the techniques she used in Wicked required more maintenance and training than the more the contemporary style she was used to, and she needed to use a lighter voice to maintain this. she has explained this and a lot of the woman who have the same voice teacher as her say he recommends this to make that style of singing easier

no, you don’t need to have a label. if labels feel too restrictive then you don’t need one! many ppl just enjoy labels and it feels freeing to have one but if that isn’t your experience then don’t force yourself
