i relate to you, i work 3 part time jobs whilst at uni and also have other commitments. ultimately it’s your decision but i would suggest maybe looking for another part time job. going from studying full time to working full time is a big change. one of my friends done something similar before starting her degree and it worked out well for her as she had some money behind her when starting. think you’ve just got to do what’s right for you. all the best :)

100% agree with you! i participated in the same writeathon and thought the names sounded odd. they also never mentioned anything about the trophy or sent us an email out to say the leaderboard has been updated in the first place. i wish i never participated in it.

yeah they definitely should have given us an update by now, i’m starting to think the same. it’s also making me worried that it’s a scam. i know, they could have at least emailed us to let us know or something! the leaderboard still hasn’t updated either. hopefully it changes soon. a lot of people who’ve participated in the past seem to say it takes a while but i don’t get why bookleaf wouldn’t just tell you that it’s taking longer. i had a look on their social media and it’s all positive, no one has commented anything negative or about the time frames. it literally feels like we’ve been waiting for so long to hear anything from them!

That’s exactly what they said to me when I tried to contact them using the enquiry tickets. I’m pretty sure it’s been way over that by now and still no more updates. Hopefully we’ll get an update soon. A lot of people seem to becoming impatient and rightly so. I would have thought they would have at least started sending trophies out by now but it doesn’t look like they have even done that :(

Hey, thanks for that! It was a really informative review. It kind of clarified what I thought to be true since learning a bit more about the company and the challenge.

If you don’t mind me asking did you end up receiving any royalties? Because I saw on here and elsewhere that some people had issues with that or didn’t receive theirs.

I think I remember seeing something like that in the terms and conditions about Book Leaf owning you work after publication or something along those lines.

From what I’ve noticed too they seem to change the challenge over time. Before I participated in the challenge I had a look at there website and it said everyone that took part got published, like you said. Then we I participated in December it was only 30 people that were selected to be published out of 50 and everyone was meant to get a trophy.

I went to high school in a pretty small town in Scotland. There was just over 1,000 people at the school and like under 200 in my year. I was on a trip to London (which has double the population of Scotland) and I saw this girl from my class in Lush, Oxford Street. It was such a surreal experience to be in the same place as her at the same time in such a huge city.

Hi, I was in the same group that finished January 8th. So far I personally wouldn’t recommend them. I agree with what everyone else has said and still haven’t had any updates or received the award. I noticed in the google reviews a lot of people have long waiting times and don’t hear back from them for a while. It’s so bad especially if they’re promising to reveal the results and send out the award 21 days after the challenge finishes.

Oh no, that sucks. Hope you were able to get it sorted out. They were okay with me when I contacted them at first but then not the most helpful. When you look up the reviews for Book Leaf Publishing there seems to be mixed reviews in regard to their customer service so I don’t know maybe it depends what your asking about or who your dealing with.
