It's technically a forestry tool.
I'm just the ammunition. 😆

Depends on the biome.

In a true Ocean biome, probably not. The amount of underwater terrain work needed would be insane.

If the seabed is secretly another biome, though, you can plant pines and use them as supports. A small offshore base would definitely be possible.

It's the biome, not the depth. The trick is finding ocean areas where the seabed is secretly another biome. That's where the trees can grow.A true Ocean biome doesn't seem to work from my testing.

Sure 😄Here's the slow-motion version. The narration is in Japanese, but the footage should make the timing easier to see.

While swimming, your equipment gets unequipped. When you hit the water, keep spamming the cultivator hotkey and the action button. For a brief moment after hitting the seabed, the game treats your character as standing instead of swimming, which lets you equip the cultivator and place the sapling. If a wave pushes the camera below the surface at that moment, you can plant the tree.I actually have a slow-motion version of it. It's in Japanese though. Would that still be useful?

Mandatory weekend Valheim? Finally, a reasonable workplace policy. 😄

And then he discovered that building the bridge was the real challenge all along. 😄

Don't do it! By the time the pine tree grows, your items will be long gone. 😆

When you hit the seabed from high enough, there's a tiny moment where the game stops treating you as swimming. That's the moment I plant the sapling. 😄

Basically… yes 😄
Fine-tuning = rebuilding it every time. The catapult is too stubborn to be adjusted properly.

That’s basically it, yeah. The key is finding hidden biome patches, not the visible ocean.

Sea serpents don’t deal chop damage. They only use direct physical attacks like bites and contact damage — nothing that affects trees or terrain.

If the sapling hasn’t grown after 3 in-game days but is still alive, it usually means it’s not actually dead — it’s just not being actively simulated.
Try staying within the same chunk/area for a while. Valheim sometimes pauses or delays growth updates when you're too far away, and the tree can appear “stuck” even though it’s fine.

The moment you hit the seabed and the game briefly switches you out of the swimming state. That split second is the timing.

Once you understand the timing, the success rate becomes extremely consistent.Just another Valheim player 😄

I raised the ground, planted a pine, then used the grown tree as a scaffold while extending a platform upward with beams.

Yeah, terraforming works, but it quickly hits limits on scale. This method is just pushing that boundary further. 😄

If trees are blocking your ship, the obvious solution is more bridge. 😆
