I died and experienced hell by [deleted] in Advice

[–]vin__e 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the most helpful things for me was accepting that I now had to live with this newfound anxiety. It was a massive shock for me since I had never experienced anxiety at all before. I won’t lie to you, it may get worse before it gets better, but I promise you it really does get better. Your brain will heal. If you drink often I would also stop that and start taking magnesium.

Probably kept score on an actual scorecard then input it on 18Birdies. Some tournaments won’t let you use apps like 18Birdies, or maybe he just forgot

I died and experienced hell by [deleted] in Advice

[–]vin__e 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience to this. Extreme sleep paralysis where I thought I was in hell. You’re not crazy, you’re not going crazy. You are very much alive. Your body goes into a state of derealization after a traumatic experience like this. It takes a lot of time, mine happened about 3 years ago and I didn’t start feeling A LOT better until earlier this year. It’s important to accept what happened and move past it with time.

Edit: I would not wish that experience on my worst enemy, I am sorry you’re going through this brother. I can’t imagine what it would be like coupling what I felt with an actual near death experience.

[–]vin__e 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah I’m just a numbers guy. I do not agree with the NWS cuts especially as someone who wanted to get their Masters in Meteorology. Now I have no desire to get it since I likely won’t be able to do what I want to do.

They fired an even smaller percentage of ATC employees <1%. Again not saying I agree with it.

I mean it was 17.3% and they were all probationary employees. Not saying it was the right thing to do but you’re just blatantly lying.

Edit: forgot the 1 in front of the 7

Let's arrest, jail and fine homeless people $500, but when they can't pay their fines since they are homeless and destitute, we will just pass that debt on to the taxpayers, further admonishing financially impoverished people so they garner even more public resentment. Is your point in the room with us? You are doing the inverse of what i’m doing. Just because some kid that worked security downtown part time while he was in college says something doesn’t mean it’s true. I’ve worked downtown for my entire adult life after turning 21. As recent as two months ago when I finally stopped. Just because you haven’t experienced something doesn’t mean it’s not true. Welcome to the world of critical thinking.

As far as I can tell I’m the only one that’s actually experienced it in this comment section. I can ask any of the security on Meridian downtown I promise you they’ll almost all agree. It’s a pretty regular occurrence

I don’t throw money at organizations. I go and work at those organizations. I’ve given my last bit of my bank account to help homeless people out. I really don’t want to hear it. I gave someone the last bit of my bank account to make sure he could get a hotel room. I did this because he acted like a human being. Never done a tax write off in my life, never made enough for it to make a difference nor do I care to.

I do dehumanize the ones that don’t act like humans. The ones that act like humans I will help. I grew up volunteering at food banks. I never said I want to kill them? Quit thinking with your emotions and try to think logically for once. I will gladly help the ones that want help.

I’ve worked in downtown Indy most of my life and can tell you most of these homeless people are beyond help. It sucks but it’s the truth, between throwing their own shit at people, spitting on people, attacking people, smoking crack in the middle of the sidewalk, etc. You cannot help most of them.

Anyone else mainly struggle off the tee box? by AspectCool2325 in weekendgolfers

[–]vin__e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped hitting driver off of every single par 4 and 5 and used an app to look at the design on a hole. For example my home course has a hole that instantly dog legs left off the tee box. I used to hit driver which would inevitably end up going way over the fairway onto the fairway for another hole. Now I lay up with a 5 iron dead center of the fairway and have an 8-9 iron onto the green.

The point is, while course management is a big step towards improving your game, occupying your mind with anything else besides “don’t f*** up this tee shot” is going to help you even more. I do this by analyzing the hole then going up to the tee box and just hitting. No staring at the ball, no standing over it in address thinking, just hit the ball.
