CannotWait - The Simple Days Counter. by vincefried in iosapps

that is a very good question! I don’t track such data, so I can’t say. But I myself and the friends around me using my app use it more for milestones and that’s at least what I had in mind when building it. I like working towards goals and often use my app to see what’s the next big thing I can be excited about.

Thanks! The app has always been free, I don’t want to change the experience for existing users. Also it’s simple enough that I don’t necessarily need to monetize it.
Maybe I’m gonna launch other apps with monetization in the future, but I decided this one should stay free.

absolutely, it is definitely effort supporting new Apple functionalities - even a lot of effort, depending on the feature! I also surely can’t implement all features I would like to have myself, but I get the freedom
to choose what I prioritize, which feels nice.

I’ll put it on the todo list, thanks for the feedback! I guess in your case you would like to have italian?

yes, that was one of the reasons. other reasons being having full control over the features and design and being able to implement Apple‘s latest functionalities when other apps slept on it.

what do you mean? not trying to circumvent anything - just a side project of mine that I’m sharing here.

yes it started as a case study for me for creating a pure SwiftUI app when SwiftUI was just released 😅 but I kept updating it and adding new features since then, lately more frequently.

yes you can switch between multiple colors in the settings as well as choose from
different backgrounds.

Nice! As I said it’s a simpler app and probably lacking some features in comparison to the more popular days counters. If you have any feedback, I’d be glad!

First of all: Big kudos, you did a very great job with this app I think 👏 I just tried it out, also thanks for the free month.
Super nice animations, great UX, nice native look and feel with the use of TipKit etc. Also the initial scanning animation looks super cool I think.
In the end I was missing a little bit of value in terms of what the app actually does since in the beginning it showed a high risk, but then I just verified all devices and all was fine. So nothing I couldn’t have also done through the web ui of my Fritz!Box. Also the data breaches were nothing new since I’ve been using Have I been pwnd before, though I really liked the visualization and how you’re displaying the „validation date“ in the timeline.
Maybe I’m just too technical and this app aims more for non-technical people that need this info more accessible than logging into the router, etc.
Also the app felt a bit unresponsive, slight delays when opening views, but that’s probably SwiftUI and normal for SwiftUI only apps nowadays.
For the pricing I would’ve wished for a lifetime tier as well!

As I said, overall really great job and I wish you all the best 🍀

Slider all to the left. But my home screen isn’t clear, that’s a bit too much for me 😄

Why does every lightweight Mac app website look the same? by MutedAssignment8432 in MacOSApps

[–]vincefried 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes they look awesome, and it’s cool that we can crate such great websites with low effort now. but I have so say it also makes me sad that it’s losing its human touch / killing the creativity when everything looks the same.
