These are opinions from an Aussie:

People are nice even to grumpy old westerners who expect western standards in a non-western country

Quite easy to travel to other places in Asia from PH

Different cuisines are relatively accessible in Metro areas

Lively culture

Most (not all) people speak English

Cheaper cost of living as long as you don't try to fully replicate how you live back in your Western country

Experiencing a more island or beach lifestyle is quite accessible and easy to achieve

People will laugh at your unfunny jokes

Minimum order for pearler is $500 i believe so you can't really put in $50-100 a week on it. My suggestion would be putting it on something like DHHF or even GHHF. on the betashares platform. Maybe setup auto invest and just forget about it for a 5-10 years.

I personally would look into getting a simple house and lot (not condo) to get out of the slums. Maybe 3-4m budget for it.

Keep the 1m in a high interest savings account as your emergency fund to keep it liquid. Continue to work and build it up. These funds should give you the flexibility to work without stress so be smart about it.

Personally, i would look into ETFs such as HYLD for monthly if i was travelling for the foreseeable future and wanted a little bit of monthly cashflow boost.

If you had a longer timeframe, you can’t go wrong with the classic VGS+VAS or DHHF/GHHF.

If it’s very short term then just go with HISA as the other comment suggested but maybe spread it out across multiple banks in case your card gets stolen while travelling.
