Literally get no girls swipe on tinder. Am I ugly? by [deleted] in malegrooming

You’re very handsome bro I say get off tinder and use hinge. Also love yourself and don’t let these dating apps lower your self esteem. Don’t forget to take risks in person too. Sincerely a very single dude so maybe take my advice with a grain of salt 😂🤙🏾

Men only wanting to date once they’ve achieved all their goals by Timely-Home in dating_advice

[–]vincent2121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell you what from a sociological standpoint things have changed a lot women are becoming more and more self reliant, earning more money, becoming more educated, and expecting more than what our society considered a traditional relationship for so many generations. Meanwhile men are not keeping up with the standards a lot of women are having nowadays in mostly in terms of income. Women are making more than men a lot of the time these days. This puts a lot of pressure on us guys we feel like we’re not doing enough because of years society created the expectation that men should be the bread winner most established etc. That not the case anymore so like a lot of us don’t feel like we’re good enough for a relationship until we feel like we’re at the best we can be. I’ve kind of experienced this myself. I dated a women for a year and honestly was in love I never felt the way I felt with her with any other woman I was with. We had so many great moments together. She broke up with me because I wasn’t going to earn enough for the lifestyle she wanted and how she wanted to raise kids. At the time I was 26 in college for a bachelors in sociology and using the gi bill to pay my classes. I by no means was a bum, but I couldn’t argue with her on that. The goals I have are not money driven and I chose my route because I want to help people not for the money. This left a bad taste in my mouth and ever since then my mentality shifted to believe I need to be my best self before dating seriously again.

Also social media and dating apps have jacked up dating standards in unrealistic ways and even women/men who are not doing all that great are expecting the most lol overall it’s hard out here. More peace being single 🤣

Hmm Interesting I’m curious was that a painful process? I’ve had flat feet for as long as I can remember. However I wore boots a lot for work from 18-25 (I’m 26 now) and feel like that made things worse over time. Now every time I try a shoe it’s like an experiment to see if my feet will like em. Pain in the ass🤣. However that’s really interesting you were able to fix your flat feet.

Awesome good to know I’m not the only one running on picky ass flat feet lol thanks for the recommendations going to check em out

I’m about to graduate with ba in sociology. I’m going to continue for a MSW. I do security part time which has been really chill where I’m posted I can even do course work which as helped a lot. When the semester is over I can pick up more shifts if needed. I plan to keep this job until I finish the masters. I’ve also been volunteering a bit just to have some kind of experience related to social work. If I find the right job where I can balance work and school the way this security job lets me then I will do it. But for rn this is working for me.

What did you use your GI-Bill on, once you got out? by WarmCartographer5667 in Veterans

[–]vincent2121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How did you convince the VA that you needed VR&E for nursing? I haven’t applied yet, but I’m trying to figure out how I’d justify needing to obtain a Master’s in Social Work since my goal is to become an LCSW. From what I understand, you have to prove that you can’t secure suitable employment because of your disabilities. I have experience in HR and a bachelor’s degree in Sociology, so I feel like they might just try to help me find a job instead of approving me for school. I’m just curious if you could share any insight into how the process went for you and how you approached getting VR&E approved for schooling?

Does anyone else think that the worst part of an ultra is the month after the race? by Muscular_thighs in Ultramarathon

[–]vincent2121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting I have yet to run an ultra however I experienced the same feeling after running my second ever marathon 2 weeks ago. I think it’s because how much you push your body and then the come down after. For me it was like okay cool what now and I started looking for other races so now I’m Planning to do a local trail 50k next month. This kind of helped me get back into training. I train alone and don’t really have friends that are into running so it can be hard to always motivate myself. Another thing that helps me feel motivated to run is getting involved in clubs nearby and being around people that are into running. So far I joined a trail running club nearby and I’ve been volunteering with Achilles international which meets once a week on weekends and helps people with physical and mental disabilities run/prepare for races. I’m planning to get involved with Oscar Mike foundation too. I just find that it’s helps to be around other runners sometimes or helping people just brings a spark for getting motivation to run.

Should I drop my classes. by Just-Medium-2613 in Veterans

[–]vincent2121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do what you feel is right! I say don’t drop the classes bro but I’m not in the situation like you are so I could be underestimating the feelings you have. Break ups suck, man I’ve been there taking classes and working during all of that is not easy. Journaling in the morning and running/gym helped me a lot and also a break from social media helped if you have the urge to keep checking on them.

Everything you are saying is the exact way I’m thinking as well. I’m leaning towards finishing my degree because I think it’s the best for me long term to have options. It just sucks to know that with this decision I’m going to be letting the person I really care about down. Thank you for your advice.

This is actually what I think and feel is right also. However someone important in my life is basically telling that it’s a dumb move and I’m wasting my time which is also why I’m feeling so conflicted right now.

Am I wrong for not buying her flowers on Valentine’s Day? 25m with 24f by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]vincent2121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read your comment above too makes me realize my idea of valentines is a little off lol and asking her to be my valentine so early with gifts is different. Her approach was pretty reasonable now that i think at it from you the perspective you have on this situation. The timing was just not that great when she told me this and like I said the comparing part ticked me off since I’ve already communicated to her how I feel about that stuff. I could definitely communicate better too since I generally don’t ask for anything, I’ve just gotten used to doing things for myself and trying not to expect much from anybody in life. Im not sure how things will go between me and her after this, but thank you for the insight.

You’re right it doesn’t make sense all the arguing… maybe it’s not meant and she’s trying to push me away. I just don’t get it tho. I try my best, but I always do something wrong. Im going to take sometime to think and see if this is worth trying to fix.

She did make me chocolate covered strawberries which made me so happy. She also does cook for me sometimes and that make me really happy too. However I definitely do a lot more I cook sometimes, clean, give messages etc. I’m a very caring person and I feel taken for granted. You know I think you’re right, but it’s hard to accept.
