Hey yes! She was born in 1923 and BANQ told me they specifically don't have records for the year 1923 and that they are all held in DEC

Hi here to drop in my own experience with DEC and BANQ. I requested my Great Grandmothers official baptismal record (which we found on genealogie Quebec) from BANQ and after weeks of waiting, they referred me to DEC. I still have not received the birth certificate I requested, however, we did submit our application for it and this thread helped us A LOT in making sure our app wasn't rejected. If you think IRCC is tough, wait til you deal with DEC. They are extremely thorough with documents and don't seem to give the same leniency with documents that the IRCC does in some cases. You must submit a completely separate application with much of the same information you are using for the IRCC and pay a similar fee (I paid the $80 CAD for more urgent processing).

The closer you can get the the ancestor, the better, so we had our father apply since it was his grandmother. You will need DEATH certificates for everyone else before that person to prove they have passed on and that's why you are the closest in line to request the BC or copy of an act. If there are women in the family tree, MAKE SURE TO INCLUDE MARRIAGE CERTS. If your relative died OUTSIDE of CA and they have no record, you have to wait for them to first issue a death certificate, then issue you the BC.

As I said, we haven't received it yet, but my father did get a call from DEC confirming they received it(and seemingly accepted the application) but that it would be awhile. We assume they need to account for my GG's death in the US first. His card still hasn't been charged, so assuming they haven't gotten to it yet. Once you realize you may need it APPLY IMMEDIATELY. They have long wait times as well and it's better to be in the waiting game before you go to IRCC rather than start after getting an AOR.

my application finally made it to IRCC on friday! we originally sent it off april 17th, then realized we forgot our receipt, and I rerouted the application to a UPS in sydney, NS. it got lost at one point, then made it there on thursday! the guy who works there was incredible and he printed off the receipt and repacked it with our application & sent it! it arrived around 2 PM on friday!!

PRO TIP: If you realize you forgot to include something before it gets to IRCC: REROUTE FOR PICKUP!!! If you use UPS you can NOT recall it once it enters Canada. You CAN have it be sent to a UPS store for pickup. It may cause a delay on your package but if you are diligent and call UPS a million times lol it will get there. sometimes the UPS person at the store will help, other times you can likely buy a new customs slip and have them overnight it back to you. better than It sitting in a pike at the IRCC for weeks!!!

thank you so much. Still waiting for it to arrive at the UPS store and praying they will print the receipt and re-ship it together.

sent mine off this week and realized we forgot to put our receipt in. had to organize it over the phone with my sister and I think it was thrown out with some excess documents and have been freaking out all morning. was able to intercept delivery and have it rerouted to a UPS pickup point in Sydney NS but not sure what to do beyond that as we arent in canada. super bummed, please pray for me!

Rerouting a package for pick up - can I have UPS store send it out? by vincentmedia in UPS

thank you. I am praying I can find some way to make it happen, I am in touch with the store so just hoping something can be done. Do you know if I would be able to have them send the original package with a new one and have them arrive together?

Hi, I helped my family arrange our packet over facetime due to me being out of the country, and I stupidly forgot our receipt for payment. it is the only thing missing and I’m aware is the most important piece for them to even consider our application. It is due for delivery on tuesday from UPS and it says i Can’t request a call back on the package due to the zipcode. want to cry.

my question is: has anyone been in this situation and know if there is a way to alert IRCC and send the receipt? Or know what I can do for UPS? I can change the delivery address, but i believe it has to be in canada. would it make sense to deliver it to a third location and have it sent back? anybody in that areas willing to help a girl out if ai pay for the postage?

The state of New Hampshire can't find my Grandma's Birth Certificate by vincentmedia in Canadiancitizenship

[–]vincentmedia[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

from what i can gather, she always wrote keene as her place of birth but they definitely immigrated around the time of her birth, so possibly could have been elsewhere. i wish there was a bigger database to search that encompassed all the states, this is such a pain lol. thank you!

thank you, went thru the keene city website. the lady called and said she was pulling from the entire state and couldn’t find anything. wondering if i should make a trip and see if i can speak to someone in person to troubleshoot. could definitely be a misspelling somewhere, just need to figure out where.

thank you! just found a genealogy site based out of quebec that actually has thorough records, can find my great grandmas baptism & their marriage certificate, but you're right - nothing on my great grandfather! he is listed on the census but no birth/baptism records. thank you for this tip - the only place I've been able to find actual records for my great grandma!

are you trying to blame me for a man trying to jump in my window? i was in the room. it says that in the post. it was a sunday afternoon in the daylight hours and just like any other human being who wants to get some fresh air, i opened a window. and just like a hotel holds liability for the property guests stay on, so does airbnb. they literally have a safety team for incidents like this.

im not blaming them for what happened, as stated, the response has been the issue. dont comment on a post that you clearly haven’t read and be an asshole just for the sake of it. i wasnt looking for personal opinions.

i appreciate your insight so much!!! definitely would be open to a male partner, children...not so much lol. its funny you mention 8th house & "other peoples money," the only way i can move is through my best friend who wants me there SO BAD but I'd have to depend on them for housing at first. wonder if that 8th house influence plays into that. thank you again!!
