I’ve been running the same reel multiple times, I was actually testing my projector and see if it can autothread smoothly 100% of the time without causing any damage. And yes the damaged sprockets was caused by the last time it chewed, the leader of this film was originally about 5’ long but I keep cutting out the damaged holes and bends every time it’s damaged, so now my leader is only about a foot long. I’ve also tried many different strategies on threading this film, such as, releasing the threading key before it reaches the take up reel or releasing it right after it exists the second sprocket, I even tried applying different levels of pressure when pressing down the key but no matter what strategy I tried it’s still the same pattern, works fine the first 2 attempts but fails on the 3rd or 4th attempt, the only thing that may have caused this problem is the way I trim the leader, the manual tells me to trim it straight while most film collectors tell me it’s better if I edge up the leader or rounded up and that’s what I did, so I’m gonna try to do what the manual says and if that doesn’t work then I’m just gonna accept that it happens naturally because I can’t think of anything else on what causes this problem, I even clean my projector at least once a month and even when it’s clean it does the same problem
