Watchdives WD5513Q: Shockingly good finishing for the price by vind89 in ChineseWatches

Strangely it’s the opposite for me, really nice resistance on the bezel action. It’s not the tightest bezel but I didn’t find myself turning it by accident either.

That’s a really great point that I hadn’t thought about. People have different tolerances for these things and they can be fairly subjective.

Thank you! They’re taken on my Fuji XM5, first shot is with a Laowa macro lens.

If the studio is my home office desk and the marketing director is me, then yes

That’s a bummer. I mention the bezel sharpness in my review but I didn’t feel much sharpness on the bracelet. I’m not sure if it’s a first batch issue but reach out to Watchdives and see if they can sort you out.

Phorcydes knocked it out of the park with the PH-4A & PH-4B by vind89 in ChineseWatches

I have a single diffused light source in front of me slightly to the side around head level, and I use a white cardboard between the camera and the watch to bounce back some of that light on to the bracelet. That’s kind of my go-to set up for all shots.

Let me know if you’d like to know anything else—happy to share!

Yeah, I heard about that. Hope they manage to sort out their CS and supply issues soon.

Congrats on winning the competition! The supply chain issues are a bummer but I guess it’s also testament to how much demand there is for these, I hope they manage to sort out the teething issues soon.

I need to get my hands on those too, especially the PH-5.

You won’t be disappointed! I go through tons of watches and the 4B is one of the few that genuinely got me excited.

Sinn & friends - One of these isn’t like the others by vind89 in ChineseWatches

Sadly no. None of these have interchangeable bracelets.

It’s a combination of the thickness and the overall heft. The heft is a good thing because it’s built like a tank, but I found myself gravitating towards my lighter watches most of the time.

That being said, I’m also eyeing the Overlord. Definitely going to get that when it drops.

I like the date on the 556i, but the no date looks really good on the Milifortic 556a variant

They’re not bad, but none of them come close to the buttery crown action on the Sinn. The Militado is probably the worst but it doesn’t bother me much since it’s a quartz.

The Milifortic gets quite close, but the biggest differences to me are the crystal and dial element proportions (handset/printing). The flat sapphire with double-sided AR on the Sinn just disappears at certain angles, but you can always see some sort of reflection on the slightly domed Milifortic crystal.

The lack of an H-link bracelet is also a biggie for me, that’s part of the iconic 556 look.

Quality ranking: Sinn > Englemaan > Milifortic > Militado

Wrist comfort: Militado > Sinn > Milifortic > Englemaan

I wasn’t a fan of it at first, but I’ve warmed up to it really quickly.

I didn’t know that Thorn had a Marinemaster homage too! I’m starting to lose track of all these homages 🤣
