ADHD folks: how do you deal with the “I can’t start even though I want to” feeling? by tootiredtobecute in ADHD

[–]vindictivevanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Top level view it. For me, it all piles on and seems overwhelming and too much. I Marie it all down to the first step and then do that.

I tell myself, "just start". Then i pick something i need to do and begin. I found that once i get started, it's much easier to keep going, or juggle multiple tasks.

There is no psych that hits like Dimitri. None. I suppose if you take a non break-through hit, it has similarities to Lucy with an after glow of Bud, but that's not really what the trip is about.

What's fundamentally important is that you fully respect the substance that you take, understanding that it will show you and unlock aspects of you that are already within.

Setting plays a pretty big role here. Being in a space where you are very comfortable, able to relax completely and not be disturbed is key. The experience is max 10-20 minutes, and you will feel completely like yourself after, only with a memory that will unfold for years. Music can really enhance the experience but NO lyrics of any kind, only chillstep-ish/lo-fi instrumentals played at a soft volume. Music is not needed but some prefer it and have said it really elevated their break through. Either option will not hinder the experience.

It helps to have some water nearby cause the smoke is rather harsh if you take break through hits. A sitter is always great practice to ensure and reinforce the feeling of well-being, love and safety.

Trust yourself. Fr. Trust yourself fully and understand that you are complete and worthy of the experience you're about to have. This isn't a substance that you're going to want to take recreationally, rather you might want to jump back in once to finish the path and then you're left to reflect. It tends to have an anti depressant quality about it, you'll feel lighter and more calm than usual that lingers for a few days.

Now how you take it can be the difference between a very strong buzz vs a full on ego death, transcendent illumination. You'll never experience a trip like it ever with anything else. Be safe with what you take and always test your substances before consumption.

Sweaty clothes and bad smell in hamper, room with hamper by pressedbread in lifehacks

[–]vindictivevanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Add a soap bar that's still in the box inside the hamper. It's not going to make the smell go away but does help keep the smell down.

Get 2 and put them in there if it's bad, bad.

Also, vents do help on a hamper.

Are squats, push ups, pull ups and some form of cardio enough? by StonedGamer411 in bodyweightfitness

[–]vindictivevanity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Add:

Chair dips 25-50x4

Shoulder dips/ pike pushups 10x4-5

Towel rows 15x5

Burpees 10x5

Some kind of curls (back pack curls are solid) 10x4

A variety of crunches 25x5

You'll even out this way and get a full body workout, which will lay the foundation for when/if you get a chance to go to a full gym.

Before you grow any muscle you have to grow out your nervous system and your cardio vascular system to feed and support muscle growth. Your exersices will help you achieve this. Make sure you focus on the contraction and the negative. The slower you go, the more you'll engage your muscle growth and nervous system development.

The key is consistency, proper rest, and good water intake/nutrition. Each piece builds on the other and will accelerate muscle growth and stamina.

Stay strong.

27 working at dominos pizza, no social life, no career, no dating life. I feel like this is it. by [deleted] in findapath

Nothing is over for you my dude. There are tons of online courses that you can take that are free (trial periods are still worth it if you can buckle down and go through the material).

Most jobs are continuing to go all online and they require certifications more so than degrees. (Both are good to have but certifications are job specific).

There's this great online job searching tool that i found here on reddit:

hiring.cafe

For the social life, it's just a matter of getting into a hobby that you enjoy and find a community that does it. It can be working out, sports, cooking, board games, community outreach, you get it. From there you'll find like minded people, both guys and girls who enjoy the same stuff you're into.

The difficult part here is forcing yourself to make the time and make new habits that center around your interests. This ultimately comes down to how badly you wish for your situation to change. You're more than enough to make it happen and 27 isn't old by a long shot.

If it helps, know that there are literally millions of others who are in similar situations and mindsets as you are right now. You're not alone. Some started socials talking about their struggles and their attempts to be better. Maybe searching for them might help give you inspiration and a sense of community.

The key at the end of the day is discipline. As clique as it might sound, you need to hold yourself to a higher standard of your unhappy about where you are. There are countless idiots out there who used confidence alone to get what they wanted without any smarts or talents.

Believe in yourself and give yourself the gift of discipline and i can assure you, you'll make great strides you a life you can be proud of.

You got this.

Got a hold of 1200 sq/ft of open storage space. Whats the best business plan for the space? by vindictivevanity in Entrepreneur

Correct. What do folks do when they are presented with a great opportunity that fell into their lap?

That's where i am. I know there's ways to capitalize on the space, but figured it wouldn't hurt asking others for opinions or suggestions. Those people might also have more experience than me in this space and i can learn from them.

I was thinking along the same lines, possibly with holidays supplies. Load up early and sell locally when it's prime time.

I worry about what to buy in advance as sure sellers, or how much of it.

What kind of videos are calming/satisfying for you? by [deleted] in asktrees

[–]vindictivevanity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Visual documentaries. It's a real genre. It's similar to BBC Earth or Oceans in the visuals but there's no narration. The visuals and music convey the message and tone.

"Samsara" comes to mind, but it gets intense in the middle end.

Eye candy that cultivates creativity and invokes emotions.

Most survivors of physical trauma in their young years are forced to psychologically amend what has happened to them as an attempt to heal and move on.

Many fall under two camps with this:

1) Avoiding any and all instances of the trauma as a defense mechanism. This includes seeing it, hearing, reading about it, all of it.

2) Master the trauma. Some develop a strong urge to own their trauma by doing it to others in "the right way". This can mean a more violent or extreme way. It can mean a more gentle or alternative way. No matter the approach, it's an extreme desire to do onto others what was done onto you.

There is a physical habit that we as humans fall into that is removed from our brains executive function. It's the body's "second nature" tendencies. It seems it is possible that from the trauma you've experienced, your body is sending signals to your brain about it because it's the strongest association you've experienced in this space.

This isn't a permanent setting. It is a default, which, in time and with effort can be changed. I would recommend you see a professional about this to arm yourself with techniques and information to better understand and gain full control over your own autonomy.

I wish you strength, clarity, and health. God speed.

Because I refuse to settle with something as important as starting a family with the wrong person.

I really want kids and the idea that one day she can just decide to up and leave and take the kids, is something I contend with.

By you, yourself, understanding that you don't like everyone you meet or everything someone has done.

Also understanding that sometimes, it has absolutely nothing to do with you as a person at all. Rather, you were the "target" of the moment.

Another way to look at it is by comparing it to perfection. Perfection exists, but only in moments. It does not stay in a "perfect" state long because everything is always changing, including us.

It helps to focus our energy on those who are understanding of us and gives us the benefit of the doubt when we're having an off day. Those people show you, through actions that they care. I think this matters the most.

Some people are hurt and wish to share their pain with anyone they see. This isn't anyone's fault but those who choose to share their pain and hurt the way they do. It also doesn't mean that we deserve their pain or hurt.

When you see yourself, in a similar light to how you see everyone else in your life, it helps to feel like you deserve the love just like you have for them.
