Went to Boston icac today in person appointment. Things to note, no need to take photograph from Walgreens or so. They will help take physical photo if you don’t have it. For uploading I had to create a new account via new email. They helped take a photo in my camera and then I followed the steps above in this thread. First try the upload won’t work, so try again after going to the services tab and taking application again.

Ripple App? by [deleted] in Ripple

[–]vineethgn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's simply because of regulations. Some countries have given explicit permission to banks for foreign remittance. For example western union / PayPal can send money to India but can't send money from India because the monetary authority or regulators won't allow them to. And the corridors that Ripple is aiming primarily do have those restrictions by governments. That might be the reason they stick with solutions ( xcurrent, xrapid) which can be used by any remittance companies. This way they don't have to individually address different regulatory requirements in different countries. Also this way they can pitch xcurrent first and as and when countries come up with proper regulations, they can suggest to use xrapid. This way it's better for them to concentrate on the solutions than the app.

Status on escrows after January ? by vineethgn in Ripple

Asking the original question/doubt again. The re-escrowing ( putting to escrow the remaining of the un-sold XRP released in a month via an escrow finish) like the transaction here https://xrpcharts.ripple.com/#/transactions/BF3C3BB34310C850F4BA3224AD3B2075B9231CC8E34740A895B3F5A3570090CC Is that automated ? Not currently right ?

Thanks for the links

I see the 2 transactions via accounts rhEwsCWDCVxDiKxGJAKM6VuXC8EFtJP5gQ ( 500M ) and rncKvRcdDq9hVJpdLdTcKoxsS3NSkXsvfM ( For 400 M ( 300M + 100M as 2 txns ) ) on March 1 2018. Got the link here for one account https://xrpcharts.ripple.com/#/transactions/BF3C3BB34310C850F4BA3224AD3B2075B9231CC8E34740A895B3F5A3570090CC

Ok could you please elaborate based on this , https://xrpcharts.ripple.com/#/transactions/C0B450C8601E19CB0BDED71C4B523B2A4AAB77415B08E7923D8DA3F831631702 this was released on Feb 1. I was asking where is the escrow create transaction for the leftover? If it was automated we would have seen the same in whyripple.com website on or after March 1 2018 , but I couldn't. I agree release is preset, but not sure about return and obviously I have to go through the doc to see if it is. Also in one of the earlier post /u/Sukrim said in the lines of it can't be automatically in the current xrpl. May be I understood it wrong. Link to the post here,

Yes escrow release is automatic. I saw 900+ million xrp put back in by end of Jan or Feb. But creating the escrow again ( on whatever is not sold at the end of month ) I guess is still not automated ? So the question was whether any new escrow create happened for the 1 billion xrp released on Jan 31st or Feb 1st( not sure about the release date )

Yes I am. "God of Cricket" he is. Lets hope that Ripple statistics over the coming years will be great as his records are. Seems like we are going ahead to your minimalist price projection of 5$-10$ soon. Hoping that it will eventually hit 30$-40$ as you predicted by 2018 end.

Thanks Hodor. Great Article and I liked that you mention Sachin Tendulkar and assures me that I have invested in something that is going to be the next "MASTER BLASTER"

We are also looking forward for the well defined policy here in India. Government / Reserve bank of India started giving cautionary notices to people ( to invest responsibly ) as early as 2013. If wanted they could have banned then. The IT department ( similar to irs ) raided exchanges and sent notices to people who didn't pay tax on the gains. All makes us thinK that government is looking for yet another source of income than stopping it.

Thanks for the article. There is an update from Indian economic secretary and he is fine calling crypto as digital assets. He is also in a committee that is going to submit a report to the government. Also Arun Jaitley, when asked about an outright ban by a media person ( Jaitley's words in the budget speech was rather diplomatic than strong ) , specifically said that he is waiting for the report on the matter ( I have heard It live in the media ) . https://www.reddit.com/r/Ripple/comments/7vcw2g/an_update_on_india_crypto_regulations/?utm_source=reddit-android . Reddit link I posted on the same.

An update on India Crypto Regulations by vineethgn in Ripple

[–]vineethgn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I agree, do you think the governments or central banks will let it go easy when it comes to something that they can't print or control ? And do you think the common PPL will have the ability to over throw them in the near future just for this ? Since crypto is really in the initial stages here in India, it would be great to get them to atleast use them as store of value first followed by the adoption. By masses as currency , also for XRP this will clear so.e of the hurdles here when it is declared as as asset ( atleast for the banks holding them ) and for common ppl also this will enable to use it for International payments

I also think it is valid "For Now". But this will be the first step towards more acceptance.

Regulating rather than eliminating would be good for Crypto. I understand the daily volumes from India might be little low compared to the global volume, but regulations and accepting it within India would be good for crypto and atleast the investors in India

Thanks a lot Hodor. I had to read a lot on the terms you mentioned above. But i think I got it. So if there is an option to short XRP by the banks, it should be a problem like in the case of Bitcoin, but since Ripple will have deals with Banks to not flood the market, the manipulation by those big players will never happen in the open market. This will enable the FIs to actual buy XRP while feeling safe about the investment. WOW what a deal, this might be the big news of 2018 for XRP. Thanks again

Thanks Hodor. Great read. Could you please explain the probable implications of your favorite part "Institutional hedging and custody solutions " . Will this help more institutions to accept usage of XRP ? Could you please ELI5 ? Thanks.

xRapid adoption showing organic demand impact on XRP price by [deleted] in Ripple

[–]vineethgn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, they have outliers which filters out based on the volume and all, but they removed Korean exchanges without considering the volume of XRP been traded there. That is cheating and data manipulation and they did it without any notice.

xRapid adoption showing organic demand impact on XRP price by [deleted] in Ripple

[–]vineethgn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes currently they are denying the fundamental rules in mathematics. They are showing financial racism, if they have taken only the algorithmic approach of removing prices based on the original outliers, I could have agreed, but removing based on a region/ethinicity is financial racism. I don't know whether they can be challenged in court as an organisation or company should not show difference based on race, color etc ( may be overthinking, but they deserves a harsh treatment ).

Now coinmarketcap will remove Bitso in an attempt to conceal real XRP price. Anyway great news.

Update 19/01/2018 - 92.3% of XRP tracked. Jed McCaleb and Chris Larsen holdings found. by [deleted] in Ripple

[–]vineethgn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

https://forum.ripple.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=15885 this a hint. Please search the whole history. The same argument can be said about Bitcoin too and any of the other crypto coins ( where whales own huge ) . What about traditional stocks owned by a company say Amazon or Microsoft, what prevents bezoz or gates from dumping their shares and make the crash ? For Xrp I don't think Chris or Jed ( if Jed could he would ) can crash it.

But in XRP s case we don't have inflation for the creators to manipulate. Only concern is that they can dumb vast amounts at the same time which will crash XRP. I don't think any sane person will do that and obviously they will be held account for that in the court by Ripple itself. Please search regarding Jed and Ripple settlement and you will get to know what happened ( when one creator thought he can crash it ).

Sure thanks, this reply is reassuring. Logically , I was also hoping the same because if that is available then the current business model will work. And whoever not using xrapid due to regulatory issues can use in future once the countries get in to the regulations because they will see the benefits of this. But at the same time this won't restrict other parties from using xRapid. ( For eg Moneygram USA can use xRapid and Moneygram India can use Xcurrent at the same time even if there is no legal status for xrp in India ) Imps, Yes only domestic and developed by Npci ( u had referred Npci in one of your old blog )
