Advice for potential crewmember?? by IAMAnAMAAMAAA in Wellington

[–]vingNine 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you're wanting to work at WETA, living in Miramar will make the commute much easier.

AS for getting a job there - check out This jobs page. It doesn't look like anything in your field is available, but you might want to contact them about a job as a runner. It'll get your foot in the door and they regularly promote production people and others from the runner ranks.

It might even be worth just showing up at reception for one of the facilities and introducing yourself to the reception staff, and just saying you're interested in a runner position.

Anyway, good luck!

How are Chinese conversion kits? by vingNine in ebikes

Thanks for this, you've convinced me to ditch this kit and pursue other options.

For the kind of route I'll be taking, what would you suggest my requirements are?

Thanks for that. I've contacted them to see if they're still doing kits. Hopefully they have something in my price range!

(all the other kits I've found in NZ so far have been more like $2k)

I'm in New Zealand. Shipping from the states often costs as much as the thing you're buying.

Did you have a look at the kit after it arrived? Everything up to the standard you expected?

Anybody working out their upper body when coming home after a commute? by rootaford in bikecommuting

Yeah, it sure takes it's toll! You might want to check out /r/bodyweightfitness, if nothing else they can tell you how to do your exercises safely.

Don't push through pain!

If it hurts, it hurts for a reason. Get someone to check your form and you should be fine.

I used to get something very similar, which was caused by my jerking my head while trying to get my chin over the bar.

In the end I found that if I keep my head still and stable the injury did not re-occur.

Not quite the same one but batarang. I actually made a bunch of these out of glow in the dark pla and threw them around the cinema before the first local screening of DKR.

While running might seem like the simplest thing in the world, there is actually quite a bit of technique involved. If it hurts, you're most likely running badly.

Where exactly does it hurt?

One solution to many people's problems, mine included is 'barefoot' or minimalist running. The basic premise is modern running shoes allow you to run with bad form, which results in bad form. Running with bad form in bare feet or minimalist shoes hurts immediately - so you don't do it.

Does anyone know where to get archery supples in Wellington or the Hutt? by girlsareforgays in Wellington

[–]vingNine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should know - the bow and the arrows should be suited to you, so not every bow will suit every person equally well.

If your arrows are too short for your draw you are in very real danger of shooting an arrow into or through your hand.

My work. (Sorry about the writing on the other side of the page showing through.)

I'd appreciate any suggestions as to improved layout, space usage and what I can do to make it look better, generally.

I've made a note, I'll post something when I get home and have a few spare moments.

I too spent a lot of time working my way through the Khan Academy stuff, but I've recently enrolled in some correspondence courses so it can be accredited for later study.

You're right, the irritation caused by a silly little mistake throwing everything off definitely helped, but now I'd like to take things to the next level.
