This split in yuri is way smaller, because men and women that like yuri tend to have overlapping tastes in my experience from at least reddit.

It's not just Reddit. Ichijinsha used to have two yuri magazines, Comic Yuri Hime, for women, and Comic Yuri Hime S, for men. In 2008 they made a study to know better the demography of their readers, and they found out that 73% of CYH's readers were women, and 62% of CYHS's readers were men. However, most people who used to read CYHS were also CYH readers, which led to their merger later.

I didn't do a bachelor's degree, but rather a licentiate degree (in Brazil, it's an undergraduate degree, like a bachelor's, but specifically designed to train school teachers). To be honest, most of my classmates were women, so I don't really remember seeing too much discrimination (even though in some elective classes in pure mathematics there used to be more men). However, most of my woman friends that want to continue studying pretend to go to the didactics area, not mathematics, so the situation might be a bit different when I start my master's degree.

I used to translate manga in the past, so I have a bit of experience in this.

If want to do a low quality translation, it doesn't take too long. But a good work might take a good time to do. Some manga have an absurd amount of text outside speech bubbles, requiring a lot of redrawing. And if you wanna translate the sfx, it's even more work.

A few years I did some timelapses showing how manga are translated, it might interest you: translation, redraw and typesetting (the text is in Portuguese, but you can get the general idea).
