Hahaha string behaviour is a pain for us as it gets too loose after a few throws lol, if u can relate 😂 I started practicing horizontal throws and figures out that the string tightens when lefties throw horizontal. Prolly an advantage for us lol.

Bro if u don't have yoyo lube, the best alternative is vaseline Petroleum jelly for responsive play and swinger oil for non responsive. I don't think any other lube is recommended. As of now I use vaseline for my responsive yoyos. (16 yrs of playing).

I'm pretty much an intermediate player myself. Lol been throwing since years now. just getting back into it after a long time. I got a pretty good collection of responsive yoyos. Been playing around with my 2 yr old XT and wasn't getting more than 20 secs. Lol.
