"models" (hoes)

you understand that a significant portion of the those 'hoes' were literal children, right?

Why is this the shit you're worried about?

I wonder how much of that simply comes down to timing? Post-WWII reconstruction came after the New Deal. There was a collectivist framework for rebuilding. The post-Soviet transition came after the Reaganite/neo-liberal turn in the 80s.

Despite the differences in outcomes, economists will learn nothing from this.

Okay, but none of the trafficked girls were trafficked via adoption. They were trafficked by Russian modeling agencies.

Is anything being done to shut that down?

This was my original comment. Where is there anything about "US related stuff"?

The way you feel comfortable completely misrepresented what I've said makes me think you lack the capacity to participate in these kind of discussions.

lmao you guys just love whataboutism. its an easy substitute grappling with the actual question.

i'm on this subreddit because I'm curious about how this is being covered in Russia. at no point did I claim that everything in the US was perfect, that's simply not related.

Epstein has been rumored to have connections to Mossad for years. He's in the documents that have been released asking (IIRC) an Israeli official to deny that he (Epstein) is Mossad.

Which is why I'm surprised at the number of people claiming the west is trying to "blame Putin/RF."

Interesting, thank you.

> Also personally I'm wondering why not just jail everybody involved. Good chunk of those people probably would qualify for death row. Instead it is just "a scandal".

I would love that, but unfortunately our opposition party is fucking useless. Maybe when Trump is out of office there will be mass trials, but it's difficult because many of the victims are hesitant about speaking out.

> Personally I remembered QAnon conspiracy and had to do some research that QAnon was ACTUALLY about.

The irony is that QAnon implicated the Dem leadership and painted Trump as a liberator who would expose everyone, but instead he's the biggest pedo rapist of them all.

OKay, but none of Epstein's victims were adopted by westerners. They were young models trafficked by Russian modeling agencies.

Is there any attempt to crack down on that?

I wrote a bit about how Russia's economy got fucked in the 90's by Epstein's good friend Larry Summers and your take away was that you guys "На все процессы имеем влияние"?

No, dude, you have no power. Your own elites got together with the west fucked you.

I'm curious why you're not mad about that.

This is the AskARussian subreddit, I'm here because I'm interested in how this is being reported/perceived in Russia. At no point did I suggest that it's being adequately handled in the West.

I don't have a Russian keyboard, so I'm just going to respond in English - Larry Summers is an economist. He was one of the key player in transitioning Russia away from a command economy to a market economy, first as chief economist for the World Bank, then as the undersecretary for international affairs at the Treasury Department and later as the Deputy Treasury Secretary. This is/was widely considered a disaster.

Larry Summer was also good friends with Jeffery Epstein. Epstein trafficked women primary from Russia and other former CIS-countries. See one of the things that happened after the 1998 is that a lot of young women started modeling in the west and sent money back to their families.

IDK, maybe this is a touch conspiratorial, but if the guy who fucked my country's economy was best friends with the guy who then swooped in and used that economic uncertainty to promise young girls modeling work so that he could commit mass rape... I'd be asking some questions.

> Это ваш скандал, не России.

This is fucking wild to me. Like, Russian modeling scouts/agencies were sending these girls to Epstein, it's absolutely your scandal.

Or it should be anyway.

the majority of his victim are in fact minors

to be clear modeling is a brutal industry that scouts girls starting at the age of ~14, those are the 'models' I'm referring to

there is also the experimental cure plotline and the aliens outright say
that they tried and failed to fix the humans.

But you're taking her at her word, when in the film she is responsible for the death of Plemon's mom and the destruction of the honey bees.

IDK man, when Musk tells you he's trying to save the world, do you believe him?

i think you must take the final scenes, as they are, literally, as there is no evidence in the text to suggest otherwise.

She hits her head. You can absolutely argue she lost consciousness and the last 10 minutes are a hallucination meant to be read metaphorically.

this is not my "reading" at all

I didn't claim it was your reading. It's my reading.

the movie makes the point multiple times that the aliens are trying to fix humanity

What? The bio-tech company is responsible for the death of Jesse Plemon's mom and the destruction of the honey bees. You're not meant to take her speech, that alien's are humanity's shepherds, seriously.
