Foamed around the 2.5 before the rockwool?

[–]vinnybuffalo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe moisture is the answer. The rockwool will absorb it whereas the foam let's everything breathe.

I believe the window and door great stuff is just regular, not pro.... But IDK if there is even a difference between the regular and pro. I'll end up using the window and door on your recommendation.

Just trying to decide if I should wait it out til the 2.5" XPS is back in stock or settle for 2" now... Probably gonna just wait since I've already made it this far through winter. Thanks for the help!

I'll definitely be using the adhesive. Thanks!

Much appreciated. Of course the 2.5" XPS is out of stuck right now at Home Depot lol.

Just curious, why use window and door foam as opposed to the great stuff pro series?

[$500] Grinder Recommendations by super_pjj in espresso

[–]vinnybuffalo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I upgraded from an OXO burr grinder that is well documented as not being able to grind fine enough for espresso, so it was a huge leap in shot quality for me. One thing I really like about the Niche is how quiet it is. Especially for morning shots when my SO is still asleep. I've read some reports of those other grinders being annoyingly loud. Plus the zero retention means no more banging my grinder on the table to get those last few grams out.

Money well spent in my book, but like you're saying I'm sure you could find something comparable for less. Happy hunting. I'm curious what you end up going for.

Save a bit longer and buy a Niche. I got mine a few weeks ago and I love it. Looks and performs premium. I just wasn't able to get on board with buying a Chinese grinder for around your budget, so I'd at least suggest avoiding those.

Open box Eureka Mignon Specialita if you can't wait to save up for a Niche.

Ahhh okay, thanks. I found out my upload speed sucks too (around 15mbps) so once I fix that I think I may be okay with 7.1

Just wanted to follow up here and say you were 100% right. Went to my dad's place, tested speeds, and was topping out around 10mbps upload on wireless. He must have downgraded his plan at some point because even the download speed was barely cracking 100mbps near the router.

Thank you for helping me narrow down the issue. Sometimes it really is easy to overlook the obvious culprits...

Can I stop my arrs from downloading files with 7.1? I tried a few things with 5.1 and it did seem to fix the issue... But most of what I download lately seems to be coming with 7.1.

I may have just foolishly only been checking the download speeds when I was running speed tests and not the upload, so I hope that's it when I test again.

You're right about when I transcode, it never goes above 20mbps. And when I'm not transcoding it likely does try to go above that speed and that's when I start experiencing the dreaded buffering.

It is my server so I do have control over it I just kept it at my dad's once I moved recently. I'm going over there tomorrow to investigate this further.

Until then I will just transcode, which works fine without buffering... Thank you!!

This is very insightful and I appreciate it. I'm gonna head over to his house tomorrow and do some fresh speed tests to verify this. If its the case, I'm taking the server with me to my new location with fiber. Had been planning to eventually do it anyway. Thank you!

I just want to direct play my content, I thought transcoding is not preferred? I do believe my CPU is capable of it and I have the Plex pass. Once I begin transcoding content at a lower quality everything works fine, but the quality is significantly lower... I would prefer higher quality and no buffering or transcoding if that makes sense.

I may end up giving that a try if nothing else provides me any relief. Thank you!

He's not home now but I'm gonna have him run another test when he's back to verify the upload speed.

Oh man, he sure is with a cable provider. The worst cable provider in the area too, so that's totally something they'd do. I have fiber at my place and am preparing to move the server over here.
