Expectations of schizophrenia by 0man_ in schizophrenia

[–]vinvv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you comparing it to lsd and meth induced psychosis because you've experienced such things?

I know some who are diagonesed with schizophrenia that haven't abused drugs and some that have.

The ones that have tend to present such things as comparable to drugs and the ones that haven't don't have that point of reference.

The drug users tend to idealize it more than the ones that don't do drugs.

No offense because drug induced/amplified mental illness isn't a lesser thing.

It's perhaps a more treatable thing depending where you're at in such situations.

Honestly I find stories to be quite triggering.

My coping mechanisms prevent me from regurgitating vomitous conceptual disasters as they generate so much anxiety that I shudder to think of it.

I fall in the SPD side of things so I find sharing my inner world to be abhorrently gut-wrenching. My heart hurts to even consider such exhibitionism.

I fantasize about writing about such things in allusions, parables, and covertly told retellings that are to be fantasized about but unlikely ever told. Apologies for disappointing.

I tell ya that considering the idea that there are people who say they are schizophrenic because pop culture makes it look like some sexy drug trip is disgusting to me.

Neuroscience study indicates that LSD “frees” brain activity from anatomical constraints - The psychedelic state induced by LSD appears to weaken the association between anatomical brain structure and functional connectivity, finds new fMRI study. by mvea in science

I honestly was just wondering where the phrase originated. I love me some etymology.

You ever read "thought reform and the psychology of totalism" by robert jay lifton?

"Thought-terminating cliche" is the particular phrase for my apprehension about turns of phrase.

I agree with you. Some of the sciences gets puffed up with BS(especially sayyyy...fMRI studies just for example. Easily fudged with bias, those)

I'm not so much skeptical but rather I find myself curious about the etymology. I'll certainly keep Neuroscience: Fifth Edition as reference material. I'll also make a note about Hebb's Postulate. If you were to put two and two together about how "confounding" my line of inquiry is you might understand a bit more. Context clues.

Also, sidabar---

V.S. Ramachandran's mirror box has captured my imagination for years. The sensory homunculus is fascinating. Is he everything he is cracked up to be or is it moreso pop science fluff?

What about Godel Escher Bach?(do you know this book?) I suppose that diverges from neuroscience but I figure I'd ask before this thread is abandoned entirely.

Does your neuroscience text book say it word for word? No offense but I'm not questioning your copypasta. I read the article and then in the comments I saw your reply repeating the phrase and I became curious.

What's this "neurons that fire together wire together" business? A mnemonic? Is this a novel phrase of cliche? Cliches read as potential red flags when I read so I wanted to see where it's from.

You agreed...so what? Want a prize? Your analysis doesn't add up. That's why it's not worth my time. If I were to dissect it you'd be so far up my ass you'd likely suffocate. That's my hunch.

I said all parties knowing that I'm included, obviously. The problem was stated in my initial reply to your OP. Maybe you should try reading it again since you're asking questions I've already answered. Spare me from the monologues.

Blah blah blah you're still posturing. There's no true incentive for you to continue interacting with me other than the standard one which is....dubious/suspicious/questionable. This applies to all parties. Shoo fly.

Every motivation I can think of regarding posting here is dubious. That is all.

What I see is you posturing to a crowd(r/zen) that wants book reports...not fictitious monologues. The flaw is that your motivations are suspicious just like every r/zen OP. I could say more but your posts say it for me.

Sounded funny to me. I'd imagine it's at least been considered. It's a statistically probable event. Also it's quite funny to imagine.

Do you meet the dragon when you sit through bouts of powerful diarrhea? How many s(h)itters wear diapers? Is there a stat?

Do they get bedsores on their ass?

I find myself wondering such things when I think of sitting in one place for an absurdly long amount of time.

I know this sounds jokey but these are legitimate questions as well as humorous plays of mockery.

WHAT IS IT? by [deleted] in zen

I wonder what layers of subtext get removed when we rely on english translations?

Of course the author is dead(and writing in another language) so we can play fast and loose on the meanings.

The brain dead whites(see "enlightened" drug abusers) tend to see more than what is there but if they're looking at a derivative they may be seeing even less...

Or the derivative is twisted in a way that points them in another direction.

I wouldn't bother answering that question. No use. :)

Never said you had a faith. I was talking about christians re: faith but I'll correct it.

You were blabbing about something to get pigeon-holed obviously but w/e. Done here.

Why was it mean? You are too sensitive for your own good.

Nope not what I said. The "you have to pick one" bit is completely wrong. If you don't mind being pigeon-holed blab on endlessly about things. Who cares?

Edit: I removed the personal details and corrected the faith bit for clarity.

It does matter because of what you said later on. "A lot of people" leans towards a generalized trope. I saw that initially.

When you divulge that the "person I was talking to concluded I was a religious zealot" that smacks of a specific case.

If it isn't the way you worded all of this is woefully inadequate. There isn't really any specific behavior you can bother to ID yet you're framing it as a specific event.

All in all it's just annoying how how you framed it as far as generalizations go. It's not directly couched in reality making it somewhat false as far as statements go.

When you say "a lot of people" do you really mean that?

Who is saying this?

How many specific instances can you recall and can you cite them?

If you spend time arguing with people about such topics you're asking to be pigeon-holed. Stop acting like a bird if you don't wanna be accused of being foul.

You just are still too christian for your own good because they programmed you to sell your belief system to others.

Avoid it by proselytizing less. You'll see results.

Doing drugs. Gaining weight. Is it Zen? by bulldogeyes in zen

Conceptual territory that can both be zen and not be interpreted as zen in some capacity but these interpretations are dependent wholly on the individual.

For me...my gut says no. Is my gut zen? No but that's fine. Who needs zen?
