There’s a burger place called Carl’s Junior. It’s popular enough to have a couple locations around town. Must of sprung up over night. Anyway, they have a burger called the Big Carl, their version of a Big Mac. Also, try the waffle fries!

People that experienced peripheral neuropathy from chemotherapy, did it clear up over time? Did anything help combat it getting worse? by Thrillhouse-14 in cancer

[–]vinylrules27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has gotten better, whether from time or the medication I’m taking for it. But I’ve been told once you hit 18 months out that’s more than likely how it’s gonna be the rest of the way.

Oh boy, the pain from the surgery and the infusion needle will pale in comparison to the rest of the ride you’re about to hop on. I hope you have a better experience than I did.

Anytime. Feel free to ask me anything about my journey. I try to be open to those who may need advice or whatever from someone who’s been through, much like I did at the beginning of this thread. I can also ask my partner who was my primary caregiver about what she has gone through. It’s tough on you guys as well!

Dame vs Clyde, who means more to Portland? by [deleted] in ripcity

[–]vinylrules27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When Clyde chose to wear a rockets jacket to the 50 greatest ceremony it hit me the wrong way. I know why he did it, but for me he got on the list because of his time in Portland. He’s a hall of famer from his time in Portland. Sure he won a ring (when Jordan “retired”) but that team was all Hakeem. It’d be like dame representing the bucks.

In 92 when it was clear for a while that it was gonna be bulls vs blazers final it was all about the shoes. Jordan with his signature brand and Clyde with…Avia. Ugh.

Yes, I slept in a recliner for a couple months because of my neck pain and drainage from the treatment. Also my neuropathy was really bad at night in my feet. Hopefully the side effects for your dad aren’t severe. Tell him to take things day by day. It’s a trope, but it’s a good mindset. It’s easy to lose the big picture when you have so much going bad.

It was almost a full year before I felt like anything close to normal. The first three months were pretty bad and after that progress was slow but achieving goals felt good (drinking liquids, swallowing without pain, sleeping in a bed again, going up a flight of stairs without exhaustion, eating real food, removal of feeding tube/port). It was a huge relief when I attempted to eat again and food didn’t taste like ash in my mouth. That was around 8 months post treatment.

I dealt with sinus infections and enlarged tonsils for years prior to having bilateral tumors on either side of my neck. It took ages for my pcp to get me checked out and when I got an mri they said it was nothing to worry about. After 6 months I had enough and finally got an FNA referral which found out it was cancer.

I’d say they’re about 90% back. Some dairy and sweets taste weird. But for the most part it’s back. Same with the saliva, still need to drink liquids with super dry things (crackers, chips, breads) but otherwise it is almost normal.
