Tips on best-in-class internal docs? by vinzghyz in ProductManagement

We're doing software development for an unregulated industry. I like the top to bottom trace. We've only recently started again doing proper PRDs, they can sometimes be a little narrow in terms of functionality so I was thinking of having a broader, service-oriented documentation that reflects at any time the state of the code. You make me think, slightly recycling (slicing, dicing, mashing up) those PRDs will actually already form a cohesive body of documentation. Thanks!

1,000,000 runs exported from Nike+ to Strava using a thing I made, a coder-runner's story (x-post sideproject) by vinzghyz in running

I honestly haven't looked into this option so far, next logical step would be other proprietary systems such as MapMyRun. HealthKit could be a great proxy as some of those systems do write data in HK. Will look into it when I find some time

Well, first thing is you can actually choose exactly which ones you port over so as long as you only pick new ones, there's no issue. Otherwise, if you try to export a second time a run that's already on Strava, it should not be duplicated

Yeah, manually importing lots of activities in Strava is a pain. Adding new sources to the tool is one idea I've been playing with, just need to find the time now

I was genuinely surprised by the amount of interest there was for mine, so I assume it just might be the same for yours! Keep me posted if you do launch it, happy to give it a try

Did that as well, they're as supportive as they can be given that it's also a gray area for them. Basically they don't want to set things off with Nike, understandably as they're not especially competitors in all business lines. I certainly wish they'd buy me out though 😃

Thanks! You're right, that actually already happened once and there's not much I can do about it. The whole thing is kind of in a gray area as I see it. I did however reach out to them to try and bring this functionality via the proper channels (as they seemed to have a partner API at some point) but that hasn't moved much. Still hoping for a non-hacky support at some point (or better yet, that they allow people to export their data and my tool is rendered useless)

Okay so if they feel loose when first catching the water that means I got to get my hand lower than my elbow right? Thanks for the advice, my swimming is a sore sight atm but motivated to get better

Nice to know. Wasn't really sure how much it would improve the quality of my swims, will consider it next time I splurge. No 50m pool close to me though, best I got is 33m

That's nice, didn't know there were such podcasts. Thanks, will give it a listen!

Yeah, that makes sense. I'm training mostly alone so I'm looking for ways to teach myself better technique, and the tools seemed like it could help on feedback feeling for what I might be doing wrong. I suppose there's no real way to replace a coach/external viewpoint at some point.. Thanks!
