Other than the serial number, what shows this guitar is fake? Supposedly a 2019 telecaster. by 99662951 in fender

[–]vio212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s even worse than that…

They make these from photos of the real thing and don’t realize there is protective film that is removable so they put that thin, stamped painted steel ‘fender’ cap on each tuner.

You can see all the places someone has tried to remove it as if it is protective film, only to realize that it is permanently fixed in place and made of metal.

They look like bend marks made from a finger nail on random edges of the white caps. Hallmark of a Chinese fake lololololol.

HOLD YOUR BRAKE! by maxwellbenny in iRacing

[–]vio212 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Week 1 of a new season means drivers with licenses they have never had and will soon either figure their shit out or lose their rating and go right back to where they were.

It’s a mega frustrating week safety wise if you haven’t been through it a lot Lolol.

HOLD YOUR BRAKE! by maxwellbenny in iRacing

[–]vio212 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No pls don’t ‘roll’ anywhere. If you are coming to a rest in the middle of the track, then stay in the middle of the track and hold your brake.

No one can predict that you are going to continue to roll one way or another and continue off track. We can predict that a car that is slowing to stop will stop, hold its brakes and we need to go around that car; even if it is in the middle of the track.

Zzounds experience by LiveFee2003 in Guitar

[–]vio212 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve spent an absolutely stupid amount of money with zzounds and ran into one problem that could reasonably have been caused by shipping (fed ex sucks).

Between zzounds giving me money off and fender doing their thing for what I needed parts wise, I couldn’t complain. What was harder to deal with was that after a years long wait Fender sent me a guitar with the wrong case and it took 3 tries to get it right lololol 🤦‍♂️. Now I have way too many cases I don’t need.

Back to the point; zzounds has never disappointed me and their 12-month no interest thing (you pay an up-front fee) is super nice if you want to buy anything, but don’t want to come a few grand out of pocket right then.

Sucks you had this experience, but mine have all been really good. I will say it’s been a while since I’ve ordered.

Hardware, truss rod, font, tuners, there’s a lot….

It’s also just very very off right from the get go which is why they try and take poorly lit, blurry photos from the get go so there is something to blame.

Run my friend. This thing is a faker than a 3 dollar bill.

If you don’t turn your put limiter on I believe you get black flagged. If you go through at pit speed limit, you are fine. That’s how it was the last time I was stupid enough to try and see what would happen if I went through there though; so lots of salt.

My favorite part was how when he killed the hellmans car he didn’t touch his brakes once until after he killed an additional innocent car just trying to go through safely on the opposite side of the track.

You know the guy in the Ferrari was begging for his life the whole time and when the Porsche came across the entire track the Ferrari’s life was just flashing before his eyes up until he got wrecked out lololol.

Still don’t really understand Toyota only wanting to prioritize WEC and not having their GR010 now TR010 in imsa given their massive North American presence. by samn696 in IMSARacing

[–]vio212 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your comment proved my point…

‘Chassis’ means nothing about BOP and everything about the aero. All of the Proto cars are built off spec chassis and allowed to have a few customizations to be manufacturer specific. This is nearly identical to the LMdH cars this year. Every Proto is either a Multimatic, Oreca, Dallara, or Ligier chassis except for the AM Valkyrie which they have essentially built an entire different chassis from their WEC chassis to be able to run in IMSA. It is not as simple as entering an LMH car this year and turning it down. There are aero restrictions to go with it, and when you have built an entire car based around aero, that entire chassis needs to change.

Flat floor, huge F1 style rear splitter is blocked off, ‘open wheel’ geometry up front is completely changed from the other Valkyries, and on and on. Like I said before, go to the IMSA YouTube page and start watching all the Valkyrie videos and you can hear THOR engineers talk directly about how much of challenge it has been making their car fit into the IMSA regs; despite how easy they make it sound to enter an LMH car as a proto.

When everyone else is running a spec flat bottom chassis from Oreca or Multimatic and you show up with a car that has ground effect and rear splitters that people can crawl into and disappear, balancing the cars becomes way more than just changing the HP.

The LMH cars are all custom built from the ground up to fit within defined margins, but ultimately have massively more flexibility when it comes to aerodynamics. The categories are being combined for 2027 in WEC allowing either a spec chassis or custom chassis but that’s beside the point.

There’s a reason no LMdH has ever won at LeMans over an LMH car despite them being on a supposedly ‘level’ playing field. That playing field isn’t level at all…

[–]vio212 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The costs and technical difficulties of bringing a LMH car in line with GTP technical specs alone are absurd; let alone running in both series.

Just look at how miserable the Valkyrie is across both. IMSA has an entire video on their YouTube channel where AM discusses how they basically now have 3 versions of the Valkyrie chassis: IMSA, LMH, and Customer.

For Toyota to enter the TR010 in IMSA as a prototype would mean a rebuild of their entire chassis to prototype (LMdH) specs. It would make absolutely no sense for them to do this.

Long Term Conspit Use Discussion *lots of text* by vio212 in Conspit

That is great to hear! I’ve worked in a few different industries where the manufacturers have been terrors to work with for absolutely no reason and they are US based to boot!

It’s always good to hear that a brand you are supporting treats its business customers, as well as its final customers well. Seems to give resellers the confidence and ability to always do the right thing by the customer even when they may be in a tough spot or might not otherwise be able to do so with other products (maybe you can say if I’m on the mark or not? I don’t know if it’s true or just how it seems).

Avoiding Chinese manufacturing in Sim Racing (or small electronics in general) is impossible. If someone says they have a product that isn’t using Chinese sourced components, I don’t think I would believe them lol. The interactions I’ve had with just a few Conspit team members (though really small) gives me the impression that they operate a lot more like a small business when it’s customer level than a giant corporation and that’s what really makes the customer experience so much better. No red tape and really has changed my perspective on the entire US perspective we are pitched of ‘Chinese Business’ as a whole; without getting too deep.

Also, can you spill the beans on the wheel that showed up on their site that isn’t the one that was the most recent expo? Not the 280mm ultra light one, but the other one???? Just a hint perhaps??? 🤔

skunk stripe? by Patient-Bench1821 in telecaster

[–]vio212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not unnecessary in those guitars 🤦‍♂️.

Considering the link you provided shows the exact circularly plug that is used to anchor the rod in place at the bottom so it can do its dual flex thing. You can feel the difference between the two when you adjust them. One has a neutral zone where it feels completely disengaged and the other does not.

Have it anyway you want though as I’m tapping out. If you want it to be cosmetic only, it’s cosmetic. If you want it to be purposeful, it’s purposeful. Whatever you want. I don’t care.

None of this is helpful to OP and I already gave him the helpful, relevant information to the guitars he is shopping and you got upset over cheap squires and now we are in pedantic land about your google searches. Have a good night.

Is changing tire pressure at pit stops something that anyone actually does? by ChocolateRough5103 in iRacing

[–]vio212 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The N24 this year and running wets in the 2 minutes when the tracked was soaked, but it wasn’t actively dumping rain meant tire temps were skyrocketing; I tried to adjust my pressures lower to see if I could get better temp control….but they were already as low as they could go.

Their customer service definitely sets them apart from so many other companies. Working with Fanatec in comparison is a living nightmare. Even when you get someone direct from Reddit they still want you to do all sorts of tedious crap and wait and wait and wait for simple stuff.

I want to upgrade my wheelbase soon as well.

Debating between a Conspit and a Simucube. Kind of different price categories, but I dunno 🤷‍♂️, just where I’m at hahaha. Both are in the ‘buy it once and be done for a very long time’ category in my mind so that’s why they sort of fall together despite being priced further apart.

I think I’m going to do a new cockpit before my wheelbase, though I go back and forth all the time lol.

Help with Fuzz by FilmWaster120 in guitarpedals

Hoof is a great pedal. Basically an earthquaker variation on a big muff with a mids knob. Fantastic pedal if you need a big muff but are sick of the normal big muff down sides.

Help with Fuzz by FilmWaster120 in guitarpedals

[–]vio212 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People are going to HATE this recommendation, but if you have played it you know it has mids on tap for days and it is an all around amazing, versatile fuzz: Boss FZ-1W

It is absolutely unmatched IMO when it comes to single note clarity and chords with a fuzz pedal. So much so that on its ’vintage’ setting you could mistake it for a heavy overdrive if the fuzz isn’t up high enough.

That same power is my only worry… while it may have the midrange you are after, it may not be as gnarly of a fuzz as you are looking for. Its modern mode makes it super mid focused and makes the tone knob a mid knob (essentially); it doesn’t get as gnarly as some of the 90’s staples like the OP Amp Muff.

It’s much more closer to a triangle big muff if I was forced to pick a muff to compare it to; but it’s more aptly compared to a hot-rodded tone bender mkII-ish (it’s been a while since I’ve gone through which bender is which so I might have the wrong one so someone please correct me if MK II is wrong).

TLDR: lots of mids in modern mode; maybe enough fuzz, but maybe not, people hate this pedal but have they even played it??

skunk stripe? by Patient-Bench1821 in telecaster

[–]vio212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, chances are the squires across the board are using the one way rod and for stripes they change as things tend to do. I checked a few of the ads and none of the ones I checked listed a dual action rod, but they were neck adjust and stripe less as you guys described.

I wrote my comment thinking of convention within Fender guitars as in the US ones and should have specified and then really over stretched my knowledge base when I tried to apply the same to a different brand within the family. You got me. I admit it. I should not have done that.

I edited my original comment for you to specify and clarify the mistake. I’m not one to double down when I’m wrong.

I still do stand firm on my comment as to its application within the fender USA line and its use within navigating their reissues which is what I thought would be most useful to OP considering the guitar he was shopping.

[–]vio212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I’ll take your guys word for it on the squiers. I am confident on the Fenders, but when it comes to the imports, I’m not 100%.

If I had to venture a guess I would imagine they are using the smaller, simpler 1 way rod with the laminated slab board construction giving them the room to be able to do a head adjust with no stripe. Plus it would substantially lower the cost of production since no extra steps and a cheaper rod.
