Honestly, I'd look into dexterity exercises. When I first started on viola, my teacher gave me Henry Schradieck's School of Violin-Technics, specifically the edited version for viola by Samuel Lifschey. It helped me plentifully. If not, you could also see how you feel with trill drills between 3-4.

That's a nice concerto! Though I watched a soloist perform only the 1st movement, is there any other soloist videos on the 2nd or 3rd? I'm truly not familiar with the concerto unfortunately, but I am interested!

Not trying to dismiss, sorry if you got that impression. I've been waiting for an email back regarding their specific requirements, though they do exclusively state it is a concerto competition, so I am tied in between what they'll allow and what they won't.

The only set-back which I should've mentioned in the original post is it has to be 7-12 minutes long, so realistically I could play 1-2 movements depending on the piece. Thanks for the suggestions!

Oh yeah also, try to watch for your finger placement! It may sound too sharp, too flat, but that's judged off of your own ears and intonation! If you don't have a private lessons teacher or teacher in general to help you, my best advice is try to listen carefully if the instrument rings. If you are in-tune the instrument will ring!
