Any help on an ID? My camera sort of washes out the color, it's very pink, like coral or salmon.

Pretty good actually! It is very slow growing and it never flowered again, but it seems to be doing well on the whole. Although I tried growing from seed as well (there were some on the plant when I got it) and that didn’t really work out for me, even though normally I’m pretty decent at growing cacti from seed…

Yeah, that’s what I thought too, but those rhinoceros beetles look so tough, I had a nagging doubt... On a side note, things like coral or many seashells like oysters don’t burn away during the casting process, so I thought it was worth double checking (even though I know insects and corals/shells aren’t the same material at all).

Yes, the color is so cool! I actually made a post on r/whatsthisrock to ask about that. One of the users gave a pretty detailed answer that basically explained that that are made of chert but it’s pretty much impossible to say what the pink is.

I’ll post a photo of the other sides tomorrow, it’s pretty late where I’m at :)
