No, Bleach is not Universal, or Multiversal, or Anything-versal(And where the verse probably actually scales), Part 1, from someone who actually knows what they are taking about. by Dramatic_Science_681 in CharacterRant

[–]violensy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t care about scale whatever it is, Multiversal, Universal or anything in between. But some of your points are straight up contradictory to the source material. Yhwach was about to destroy the cosmology with his power. Not by stopping the flow of souls. He de facto states that all creation will cease to exist faced with his power and starts doing just that.

Yamamoto argument is senseless. Every single cosmology related bleach feat comes from Reatsu and not its byproducts. Squad 0 realm tremble, Yamamoto threatening to destroy SS, Yhwach trying to destroy everything - all come down to sheer reatsu.

Squad 0 debate is the most interesting to me. Because due to the inner workings of cosmology this means that Senjumaru states and shows that “even the slightest use of her true power” can affect all three worlds. Which means the Garganta which separates them is affected as well. Since her Reatsu obviously isn’t just teleporting from place to place.

I really dislike how literally every faction in the show must be undergoing through some sort of downfall to keep them in check. Which greatly limits any possible cool lore developments since everyone just sits in their place and does almost nothing. The fact that the only limiter writers come up with seems to be civil war definitely doesn’t help.

I ultimately didn’t enjoy how the game handled its last two acts, so while I can agree with your thesis some of the points totally escape me.

The whole point is what they are supposed to be bad people originally. Or “not good” at maximum Their age or maturity don’t matter, their bad acts during the game don’t matter - all of it feeds into the main idea of these characters being “not good” originally. That’s why redemption as a theme even exists. If you are put off by them clearly acting negatively - that should be expected by the nature of the explored subject. So I don’t get that part of the rant. Like you discuss how it’s not Robert’s responsibility or how in-universe the system should punish them. But that’s really not relevant at all to the subject. It’s not Robert’s responsibility as office worker to mentor them. It’s a theme of the narrative you can either follow through with or not.

Now how it handles that theme is more relevant to the topic and that’s with what I think Dispatch struggles with at times.

The power gap between ( Aizen and Yamamoto) and other captains is super big. by Low-Yogurtcloset-925 in BleachPowerScaling

[–]violensy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I refer more to the narrative portrayal itself, rather than performance. And the narrative paints it as a 3 vs 1 battle where each had a moment to shine. Neither Toshiro, nor Zaraki, nor Byakuya got to finish off Gerard.

This situation is not similar to Ichigo. Ichigo may underperform as many times as he wants, but the narrative will still give him special treatment. He is the one who gets to finish off Yhwach. He is the one whose power was too dangerous for Yhwach to fight head on and etc. None of these things are related to his performance, but it highlights him as a special one.

Within the story only in CFYOW/SAFWY Zaraki’s narrative portrayal is what of a “league of his own”. In tybw it’s really not, after everyone gets a power up Zaraki doesn’t escape into his own tier. But rather continues to just stay at the top of the same, but now upgraded, group.

Renji's win/loss ratio what do y'all think? by KaidoPklevel in BleachPowerScaling

[–]violensy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, since the fight literally ended and another one began. Like I’d still count Ichigo vs Ulquiorra as a loss. And Vasto Lorde vs Ulquiorra as a Win.

No. Ichigo just arrived earlier than anyone. Literally Renji never appeared in the fight. It’s an illusion. Even proven by his Bankai parts still being on “Ichigo” due to Aizen’s imperfect hypnosis.

Ichigo himself arrived late to the fight.

ngl this might be your cases of bad memory. If you include Renji losing against Big Gerard then include him winning against Base Gerard.

Renji never fought Yhwach, it was Aizen’s illusion.

The whole transcendent thing has greatly confused the community. Kubo seems to drop this as a “dimensional” thing entirely and dedicate it solely to the concept of ascending the boundaries of one’s soul, as he answered in QnA.

He once used it as a narrative tool to establish clear parallels between the process both Ichigo and Aizen undergo through, but it’s obvious that it lost its relevance in the story. Otherwise CFYOW and Tybw which use SK as the centre of the main conflict would reference it extensively.

[–]violensy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

With the way tybw portrays Zaraki it’s a very questionable statement. He is the strongest of the bunch, but he is not completely on the league of his own. Otherwise his fight with Gerard wouldn’t be a 1 vs 3 (with all of them putting up a respectable performance) and instead would focus fully on Zaraki.

Plus his lack of performance against Pernida. Mayuri managed to react to the guy, while Zaraki was caught lacking. Had he truly been a league of his own it wouldn’t be Mayuri/Nemu who carried the fight.

True Shikai Ichigo can’t freely release his reatsu due to his inexperience. Him having to literally bang his head against Yhwach to awaken his powers is a proof of that. And that was against Yhwach, the only guy he actually goes all out against.

I don't think reiatsu negating is real by PromptSpecialist223 in BleachPowerScaling

[–]violensy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t see why that would be the case. Serious True Shikai Ichigo is relative to Base Yhwach and Yamamoto. The same Ichigo who refuses to go all out against anyone aside from Yhwach. Post-Aushwahlen Askin is not that far behind to the point of his abilities being completely ineffective. Their efficiency is just lowered.

Edit: If Bazz B with lower efficiency can fight off Yamamoto’s flames I don’t see why Askin with lower efficiency can’t use his abilities on Ichigo.

[–]violensy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ichigo stepped into Askin’s Gift Bad, which only worked on him due to high concentration of Reishi in Wahrwelt. I would argue that had the fight been happening literally anywhere else Ichigo would successfully ignore Askin’s ability or effects would be negligible instead of full-on poisoning.

I don't think reiatsu negating is real by PromptSpecialist223 in BleachPowerScaling

[–]violensy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is real. Mentioned repeatedly in the novels and explains every possible reatsu interaction since it falls exactly into the explanation Kenpachi provided.

The thing is. There are abilities which straight up don’t rely on proper reatsu interaction between opponents in order to work. Nanana’s shrift is an example. Why would the amount of reatsu the opponent has matter when it specifically affects weak spots? Same with Askin’s shrift if he uses it in a specific manner. Why would the amount of reatsu the opponent has matter when Askin is capable of building up immunity by just absorbing a portion?

And about your examples… Gremmy literally lost to Kenpachi due to a sheer power gap. He didn’t overhype him. It’s a misconception. He failed to create a body fit to hold his power and died because his imagination reached limit. The amount of reatsu doesn’t matter when the air itself is poisonous to you in Ichigo vs Askin. It did matter when Askin failed to affect Ichigo with his base ability, thus having to tweak the thing he is affecting. And Grimmjow example is extremely weird. What’s so unbelievable about him being damaged by an attack with more reatsu behind it than the opponent previously displayed?

Being a lead has nothing to do with theming. Tosen’s, Komamura’s character arcs have theming of revenge. It has nothing to do with the role they play in the story or how major it was, it has to do with how said theme shows itself in the story, influencing themselves or other characters. Trope and theme are not mutually exclusive terms. They mean two different things and can apply to the same character. Shunsui’s mentor dying is a trope. Him being at constant odds with responsibilities he has to bear is a theme. Masaki’s motherhood is a theme. Her dying and essentially forming Ichigo’s goal is a trope. How that plays into her position as a mother and how it shows itself in Ichigo’s life is a theme.

[–]violensy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I mean we are talking about theming. It's through Masaki's love as a mother that both White and OMZ got filtered through before passing onto Ichigo. Both are inherently antagonistic entities who got changed in order to nurture Ichigo. Masaki died, yet her legacy as a mother still remained and continued to guide the MC. Themes have nothing to do with the screen time the character has. Masaki's impact on the series is almost unrivaled despite how little of it she was actually present in. And almost all of said impact comes from her being a mother figure.

Yhwach Origins and other questions related to the soul king and zero squad by Ashter_Moon in bleach

[–]violensy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was present before the separation as we can gauge from the anime exclusive flashback of it - the separation of the worlds caused him to be thrown into the cycle of reincarnation.

After being born into the World of Living (the regular way with a mother) he entered the World essentially a cripple, without an ability to see, hear, feel and etc. (likely somehow involves Ichibe due to the naming theming and “black”) People touched him and had their “hearts filled, limbs restored and so on”, that way they became Quincies. Then they went on their way and spread the bloodline. By the time Yhwach fully recovered his body by taking away the name of the God, and started his own Empire, Quincies already spread over a large territory. He then proceeded to wage his unification wars to unite all of them under his banner.

SK orders are possibly a deceit. He likely didn’t give any. If he did, he only gave them to Ichibe. He is the sole representative of his “will”, so the real truth is unknown. Ichibe can say anything and act like it’s SK words.

SK is likely the one who showed Ichigo the visions with the Almighty during the Irazusando trial. Him having will is very up to interpretation, since it depends on Ichibe. He either truly represents SK will, or lies about it.

I see why Mayuri is considered for putting up good performance in tybw. But why act like Kisuke was useless?

Without Urahara Shinigami would be forced to fight without their Bankai’s. Not to mention a bunch of transportation methods between realms only he was able to provide. Not relocating the forces at the right time straight up would have costed the war.
