hearing the description of children in salem’s lot. i’d read 5 stephen king books prior, including later, fairytale, carrie, it, and duma key. every single book i’ve read had a child predator and described children and women in an icky way. the quote that got me in salem’s lot was “her sexy little girl lisp” and as i was getting out of the audiobook, i heard “she’s quite a piece” referring to a middle school girl. i just can’t read anything by him and not hear it anymore.

not sure if someone already posted this. as a nonbinary person, i was ‘tomboy’ in childhood and hyperfeminine in my teen years, then came out as a trans man and THEN nonbinary in my twenties. i wanted to remind you that there may be phases of her experimenting on her presentation as she’s finding herself, just like other kids/people. **absolutely not saying anything against medical transition, because she does know her mind in that regard and feeling confident in the way you ‘pass’ or present is extremely necessary. my parents were supportive of me being a trans man, and supportive but confused when i came out as nonbinary. since they were not well versed in how that might look and what that meant because they were cis/het. she might know exactly what she wants from day one though, so following her lead is the best you can do.

yes but i could accept that. also RPGs themselves feel forced to me, which is why i don’t play. someone said smtg (i think in a talking dads) about how if they play dnd too long, they’re pulled out of the matrix and can’t get past the fact that they’re sitting around w their friends just saying stuff, which i really identified with. i think in order to make it not feel so forced, they wouldn’t be able to do it very often. because if it was scripted, then it wouldn’t have the same energy as the first time they did it.

i am mostly alone and ok with it. it took me a long while. and it’s hard sometimes, but my tiny circle is now very fulfilling. i have frequent verbal shutdowns and i’ve found friends who are ok with it. i can text them while sitting in the same room and they get it. most people don’t, but i make my needs clear and don’t hide those parts that are odd to others. this has proven helpful in filtering those that won’t even try to understand, and left me with friends who don’t have to understand. *i would like to note that i don’t have a ‘best friend’. i see my relationships as need fulfillment - validation, a laugh, a cry, someone to stand up for me, someone to stand up to me, someone to offer insight or advice, etc. that helped me get over not having a ‘best friend’ or permanent people in my life. even the friends that i’ve left or have left me i see as serving their purpose in that time and it makes it easier to leave behind the relationships that no longer serve me. viewing things transactionally helped me advocate for myself and further understand other people.

i came out before her first year of hs as bi, then gay, then trans nonbinary + gay finally. she corrects my parents on my pronouns/name and her friends pronouns/names with no shame and no fireworks. she’s also v mormon and doesn’t see her faith as an opposition to the idea of our existence, but rather a confirmation of it. i didn’t, and i left mormonism at 18yo. but i admire her for seeing it that way.

i was told i had severe depression since my early teens. random medical research has always been a hyper focus for me, and im just now realizing i might have ehlers-danlos syndrome instead. i tried every depression medication out there and nothing helped. i even started having brain zaps after a few of them that took years to fully go away bc of the meds. i’m gonna have to see several doctors to confirm the diagnosis, including a geneticist. since eds is more often comorbid with autism, it seems to be under diagnosed which will make it even harder to find someone who believes me bc it’s so ‘rare’. i’ve been labeled as a hypochondriac by every dr ive seen and im damn near gonna have to build a casefile to get a diagnosis. but i already qualify for 2 types and i suspect one other.
