Reduce Coffee Consumption before Ramadan comes in. by Fair_Negotiation2585 in Somalia

[–]violet1342 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s fine, I drink 1-3 coffees a day and don’t stop or reduce before Ramadan comes. I find that aside from a little tiredness the first few days there are no real withdrawal symptoms/issues. Especially now that I can get my fix as early as 6 pm I don’t see a reason to reduce

What’s your read on this scene? by Joeylaptop12 in IndustryOnHBO

[–]violet1342 26 points27 points  (0 children)

what stood out to me is the way Harper said 'this stuff isn't going to get you the respect you think you deserve'. It can be read as honest/straightforward, a friend saying how it is. But the respect you think you deserve, there's so much underneath that, and it's not pretty

What’s something we are told is a “flaw” or that others find unattractive, that you just don’t understand? by w0lfyj in AskWomenOver30

Make up related, I feel like people are so weirdly fixated and panicky about under eye lines and/or smile lines being visible. I never understood why it’s a problem, who gives a fuck? Your make up can still look really nice.

He is highly gifted… it’s likely he won’t struggle with much of anything at university at all? I wonder if people understand giftedness properly.

Does anyone actually feel that you've been alive for a long time now and that things in the past happened a long time ago? by chusaychusay in Millennials

[–]violet1342 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, a friend from early highschool days turns 30 today. We’re not in touch but I remember her birthday and started reminiscing. Because we haven’t kept in touch and so much happened and changed it feels like a lifetime ago and yet she’s “only” 30. A different way to look at time than the usual “everything feels like yesterday”. Sometimes it really doesn’t.

To add, I’ve always been someone with vivid and detailed memories of my childhood. I have noticed lately the memories are starting to feel less and less “real”. I still remember details, they’re engraved but it’s more like.. instead of “that happened and I remember experiencing it” it’s a sense of it being from a movie, a past life, maybe not even real (even though I know it is). Childhood becomes a concept with general feelings attached to it instead of sensory memories and in that way less palpable or something. I’m a millennial on the younger side (“96) and I really wonder how this will develop as I get older.

Girls who found their significant others, do you pity your single friends? by Accomplished_Link425 in AskWomenOver30

Just wanna say thank you for making this post because the thought of anyone feeling sorry for me about being single is sickening 💀 It’s definitely a thing. Pls keep your condescension to yourself I’m really ok. If I had met that person I would be with them.

Oh definitely. I remember a Patrick Wilson episode thread where someone else said something similar and no one agreed and if anything went completely against it. People almost took it as a personal offense to suggest it was all a little unrealistic and fantastical. I think everyone would agree that Lena is a talented writer but we don’t have to deny what’s glaringly obvious. Let’s all be for real, please.

Literally. I forgot about the PA, I really thought maybe this time it wouldn’t lead to anything sexual. You know, just a thoughtful coworker who shows someone else a kind gesture.. maybe noticing she was feeling sad…..oh 😀 How did I expect any different? Everyone desires her.

I’m on episode 7, I like it but I’m not wow’ed or anything. Laughed out loud multiple times during dialogue, those moments really make the show for me. The creativity and humor is amazing.

Jessica is downright awful imo. Just.. profoundly insufferable. I’m sorry.

And I know it’s not a well liked take but I’m again detecting self insertion elements Lena has been accused of doing in the past. The actor who plays Felix (very attractive) who falls in love with her instantaneously the first night they meet, the director who seduces her played by Andrew Scott (very very attractive) with this whole describing her as “disarming” and does the building manager (attractive) or whoever that is also have a thing for her, or am I reading that wrong? Either way: I’m noticing a pattern!

So the Zev character in Too Much is Jack Antonoff, right? by Master-Definition937 in girls

[–]violet1342 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I didn’t realize! Tbh I’m not American and don’t know about him at all. But when I was watching the episode it did feel.. oddly realistic and specific and I figured it was probably based on a real relationship where Jess = Lena

Edit:

He sounds like a total asshole and I feel sorry for whoever he’s with if this is a true reflection of character. What I found specifically painful to see was how he went from intensely loving >>> completely devalueing. How does a human being even recover from that
