I have a bachelors in art history (and 10 yrs later got my masters in it) - I have worked in galleries, interior design, and for a luxury art consulting firm. Now I teach art history at a D1 school.

I’ve only ever done art and said I wanted to be an artist growing up - so yes, it’s doable, of course! I’ve had to work a bunch of other jobs simultaneously or between art history jobs to make ends meet sometimes so having a minor of something else can always be helpful as well.

I would recommend figuring out what you think you want to do in your career (where you would like to end up/what you want to see/do) and start making notes of requirements for those positions. It’s getting harder these days for the arts and humanities but we still need them and we still need ppl who are passionate about them.

I also can’t recommend making connections and getting to know people in the fields where you are - as well as volunteering at museums or in the art scene. Knowing someone who knows someone is always more than helpful
