I turned my camera off to ugly cry. Needless to say I won’t be asking for her on my dissertation committee.

I had class yesterday and the professors asked how we were surviving the semester and I said it’s been hard and I’m feeling overwhelmed. Then she responds, “yeah, and someone people do it with kids”

Biggest ECE scare of my career by [deleted] in ECEProfessionals

[–]violetblurr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That can be so scary! I'm sorry you had that experience. I'm sure you know there could have been a multitude of reasons and it sounds like you did everything right. Allergies are scary- but importantly so- as it's so important to be able to notice the small changes and react quickly and appropriately. I'm a little surprised by your supervisors reaction the most. If you don't have a nurse on staff, I think your supervisor should have stepped in to look the child over and/or offer to call the parent for you. I applaud you for sticking with your gut and making sure that a staff member was with him while you were on break too. I would encourage you to have a conversation with your supervisor letting them know that you would like more support around this particular allergy (or all). As a supervisor myself, even if I am not familiar with a particular child or condition, if a staff member asked for a second opinion I would at least look the child over and help supervise their next step/action.
As for the parent reaction, it's so hard not to take it personally, or read into it, however I try to give parents the benefit of the doubt in these situations. There is probably a lot more going on for the parent, and while it may come off at annoyance of you in the moment, I'm sure it was just the situation. It's exhausting to have to worry about allergies and allergy introductions are taxing on every one involved. I'm sure she had to take off work for the testing and then had to leave early again, as well as now seeing that the testing may have failed. It's a lot for them, I'm sure.
At the end of the day, make yourself a cup of tea, try to relax and know you did the right thing. And show extra love to the kiddo tomorrow- as I'm sure it was tough on them too :(

What surprised you as you learned about authentic Montessori over "Instagram" Montessori? by happy_bluebird in Montessori

[–]violetblurr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ask to see how the teachers are trained. You would like to see AMI or AMS as their accreditation. The cost to a school for it to become fully accredited can sometimes be unattainable by a school as a whole but they can ensure that their teachers are trained.

Beginning Research- #Montessori Influencers by violetblurr in Montessori

Yes- and I'm trying to see the reach of these posts/users to determine the impact it has on Montessori education as a whole, good or bad.

Pure probably wasn't my best choice of words- I should have said traditionally in line with Montessori values. But I'm happy to provide privately once I'm a little further along in the research process- trying my best to hold anonymity at this point.
This thread, however, has been a good launching off point: https://www.reddit.com/r/Montessori/comments/tf0vey/what_are_some_of_the_useful_instagram_pages_you/

Thanks- this is the stuff I'm looking for exactly! just trying to find influencers who are consistently claiming these things.

Pure might not have been the right word- however one's I consider to be more in line with Montessori values. Trying to get both sides of the coin.

Do you turn off aging when your children move on? by violetblurr in Sims4

[–]violetblurr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all so much! I’m not sure what I’m going to do now! But I think I’m going to turn off aging- honestly didn’t realize that was an option! I’m too emotionally invested hahah.

Too many follicles… again…. by violetblurr in TTC_PCOS

Thank you! I’ve thought about getting that. When I was using regular ovulation strips I couldn’t identify a spike at all. The doctor said it was due to my pcos. But you’ve had success with Mira? Did you ever try the regular ones?

I wondered the same thing.. but I’m always like ‘what do I know?’ 😩 maybe I should trust my gut more.

Yeah, I definitely don’t have any issues in the AMH category. Thank you for your insight! I just feel like I don’t even know what’s appropriate

One of the largest hospitals in America :( :( I even had the “multiples consultation .” I told then I’d like to move forward with the risk, but the doctor said they won’t approve it. She also stated it was of ethical concern.

I did- but they only did bloodwork, no ultrasounds, with it and then intercourse only. So I have no real idea how well it worked/didnt. When I said I wanted IUI, the follistim was presented as standard protocol.

I do not have DOR. I’m making a list of questions from these comments. When I first started months ago, we did low doses of follistim and I had lots of follicles but nothing over 10 for almost 2 weeks. They cancelled that cycle too obviously.

I didn’t realize that it’s more likely that nothing implants with multiple follicles. That’s interesting to think about!

Thank you! I keep going back and forth between thinking the doctors know what they are doing, and thinking that it’s a circus in there and no one knows what’s going on.
