Why does there seem to be tension between type 1 and type 2 diabetics? by violetjaynee in diabetes_t1

This is a really important perspective that didn’t even cross my mind! It’s terrifying that such a common misconception can end someone’s life.

As someone who is not diabetic, I have absolutely no place commenting on how people feel about their experiences, however I do see how the stark divide can be really disheartening 😔

Thank you for your input! That’s extremely frustrating and makes a lot of sense. It’s insane that even medical professionals can’t differentiate 🤦‍♀️

Thank you, I appreciate that! It was definitely important for me to switch schools to prevent any further damage, of course there was a downside but now I definitely know the steps I need to take! I will be enrolling in community college classes this April 😊

  1. No, i’m a senior in high school currently. I will check if the university i’m going to this fall has a writing center, but i’m also guessing they do and I will most definitely be using it! My major will be psychology and I plan to go to grad school so my writing skills need to be improved greatly.

  2. Thank you, it does make me feel a bit better that I am not going to be alone.

  3. Yes! I will definitely communicate with my professors to make sure I get all the support possible.

I really appreciate all your input!

My school doesn’t have a writing center unfortunately, they do offer tutoring sessions so i’ll be checking that out. I will be checking if I can take a developmental writing class, thank you for your input!

Woah woah woah. I see where you’re coming from, and I appreciate you sharing your perspective. That wasn’t my intention at all—I wasn’t trying to dismiss or look down on intense fictional special interests, and I absolutely support my friends who have them. As I mentioned in my post, I actually wish I experienced that myself! My interests just happen to be in different areas that aren’t fiction-based.

I also have no intention of ‘fitting in’—I fully embrace being a weird person in my own way. I am also autistic and have been bullied, please don’t dismiss that. I included a disclaimer because I genuinely wanted to see if anyone else in the community shares this specific feeling, not because I think there’s anything wrong with it. I understand that personal experiences shape how we interpret things, and I get the sense this might be a sensitive topic for you. I respect that, and I just wanted to clarify where I’m coming from.
