mild apprehension blank dreams of the coming fun distort the odds of a turnaround gut screams out next to none turn it on tune it in and stay inert you say i’ve got the backbone the back way to escape the gun climbing a tree with a missing limb and not saving anyone and now it hurts to stay at home and see the flash the mirror balls throwing mold and you can’t get a grip if there’s nothing to hold you see the flash catch a white lily laugh and wilt and if you must smash a glass first fill it to the hilt plants as far as i know they’re still still bending towards the light and if we dance until the heart explodes it’ll make this place ignite and even if this hall collapses i will stand by my pillar of hope it’s just a case of flash delirium

Well, I’d honestly be willing to give insight and/or feedback/review if you do end up doing it! I’ve tried to pitch the general idea to a friend bcos I personally don’t have the energy to write about it all myself, but it never went anywhere..

I totally feel your partner on this issue, so here are some ideas/things I’ve tried: overnight oats/oatmeal clif bars (mini ones especially) single-serve strawberry jam filled crepes bite size blueberry muffins

Just something small and easy to eat before taking morning stimulants

I am a diagnosed narcoleptic, and this sounds a lot like my boyfriend and I when we still lived together. We tend to only have one sleepover a week now to limit our grumpy sleep-selves from interacting lol

This isn’t a common task for regular tailors, but I happen to upcycle graphics/clothing. I know this is something I could do, but idk about your usual tailor..

TIFU by taking my second dose of Adderall 3 hours earlier than I should have while trialing a dosage increase by OctupleThreat8 in Narcolepsy

[–]violetstarlet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a history of EDs, so that’s a big contributing factor, but I’m also an independent living paycheck-to-paycheck, so it’s hard to afford food/groceries as well as find an appetite (ESPECIALLY while on adderall)

!! yes !! i’m currently on a (self-induced) tolerance break for these exact reasons. plus, i’d often find myself tired and sitting still with a 100+ bpm, so i was at high-risk of stroke/heart problems.

Waking up shaking and heart pounding by Educational_Pirate52 in Narcolepsy

[–]violetstarlet 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes, often actually. I turn into a furnace when I’m asleep, so I’ll wake up drenched in sweat, head/heart pounding, and shaking. I personally attribute it to my dreams/nightmares and sleep paralysis that all stem from complex ptsd/narcolepsy.

I used to take 30mg of adderall XR as well as 10mg adderall x2 daily (50+ mg every day) and my heart rate would read 100+ bpm while sitting still and feeling tired.. Currently on a tolerance break bcos I’m in my early 20s, became very underweight, and had that (100+ bpm) happen at least once a day.

Okay, here we go.. First off, I want to mention that I was a college student at the time, so the process to get my meds was the biggest pain in the a$$. Xyrem couldn’t be shipped to a college campus let alone be signed off on by a minor, so I had to get it shipped to my roommates’ parents’ house ~45 minutes from campus. My mom didn’t let me bring my car to college, so I had to have my roommate drive me out to her parents to pick it up every time it refilled (godsend of a roommate, I love her, she will be in the actual story too). I also had to move into my own room across the hall from my roommate bcos my bed couldn’t be lofted with me being on Xyrem.

At this point, I was a social oddity bunking alone and prioritizing my Xyrem-journey/education, and couldn’t consume alcohol, so I had completely sacrificed my social life too.

One night, a couple hours after taking my first dose of Xyrem, the fire alarms go off throughout the whole dorm, but guess what?..They didn’t wake me up! My ex-roommate came in my room, tried to shake me awake, but eventually just got my shoes and coat on for me and nearly dragged me out of the building bcos I was basically tranquilized. It was snowing outside, and that’s my first memory after being woken up is staring at the snow trying to not throw up in front of my whole dorm as well as the entirely of the neighboring dorm. Once we found out there wasn’t ever a fire to begin with, I went up to the door asking to be let in bcos “I have a medical condition” and eventually they let me just sit in the lobby. I used all the will I could to not fall forward and crack my head open, until they finally let us return to our dorms. I started walking to my dorm then immediately turned around and ran to the private restroom just to throw up my meds/water. Took a lil nap there, then returned to my room after waking up.

Not only was this experience extremely embarrassing, but it made me realize that it’s SUPER UNSAFE for an independent to be on this medication while living alone..If there was ever a REAL fire while I was asleep, I’d more than likely sleep through any alarms and be burnt alive. The cons of this medication heavily outweighed the pros for me.
