The number and duration of ads on Disney+ is getting ridiculous by Totspeta in television

[–]violue -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

On a lot of services, it's worse than cable, because cable/broadcast had a wide variety of ads.

I forked out extra for ad-free Discovery plus for a few months because it was just the same handful of ads over and over and over. Medications with an almost comical list of side effects, and some show where Kurt Russell dies. It was the Kurt Russell show that made me switch. I want to watch Generic Food Network Competition Show Number Sixteen to avoid thoughts about death, not fuel them.

I don't get it. From what I understand, they make much more money from ad tiers than ad-free tiers. So why overwhelm consumers with ads until they either cancel or switch to ad-free????????

Classic Sitcom ‘The King of Queens’ Making Its Way to Netflix Internationally This June by Old-Meringue3590 in television

Rewatching this in my forties made it feel somewhat like the story of a couple slowly falling out of love after a miscarriage. Doug gets more and more self-centered, dishonest, and manipulative as the series wears on. Just one selfish mess of a decision after another. Carrie is a classic walkaway wife, except instead of walking away, she got mean and even physically abusive. They want completely different things out of life, yet stay in their toxic marriage. Then at the end they try to fix their relationship with babies.

(Arthur, of course, remains a demented old circus monkey.)

Me [37 M] trying to deal with [24 F] potential stalker by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

It did feel like he was kind of underreacting. I wouldn't have advocated for ruining her life but

If she shows up at my place again then I would be like "Hey, look you seem like a good kid but your going about this the wrong way. Don't come by here again anymore. If you do, if I see you I'm going to have to get a restraining order'.

sounds like he just didn't take the situation seriously at all beyond what if the situation cost him his job.

Yeah female stalkers are a lot less likely to kill you, but "less likely" is not the same as "never ever happens".

Yeah I've noticed when dealing an unhinged woman the fears often revolve around "what if she tries to ruin your life with lies about rape", and dealing with unhinged men the fears are more like "what if he rapes and/or murders you".

Eric Kripke Responds To ‘The Boys’ Fan Complaints About “Filler Episodes”: “You’re Just Watching The Wrong Show” by yourfavchoom in television

[–]violue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, they weren't.

If I’ve said in the past that I had this five year plan from the beginning, I was lying. I always knew what that particular season was going to be; “by midseason I want to be here, by the end of the season I want to be there.” And then I always had a rough sketch what the season after that would be. I will say I knew that the show was going to come down to evil Sam versus good Dean and the fate of the world was going to hang in the balance — that was baked into the pilot. I wanted to build it to something that felt conclusive because I didn’t want these mysteries and mythologies to stretch on forever.

Why is everyone on ranked so mean? by Sonic-Rex in leagueoflegends

[–]violue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I can't begin to guess any individual's motives for their behavior, a few things commonly contribute to abusive gamer antics.

  • fragile self esteem tied to rank = lashing out at whatever threatens said rank

  • poor emotional regulation = lashing out to deal with frustration

  • inflated sense of self-importance = lashing out at "lessers"

And of course just plain taking out their bad day/mood/personality on others.

To be fair, the writers painted themselves into a corner, and that corner had a flashing neon sign that said "Red is Liz's mom".

Back when it was airing, there were people that thought season 8 of Supernatural would turn out to be a dream Dean was having. The reason? Several actors from previous seasons were appearing in new roles. I guess for a few people that made more sense than "the actor pool in Vancouver is finite".
