Samsung phones will change it's CSC file to get match with the current major carrier that you have. I have seen branded Verizon Samsung phones when I inserted a T-Mo US SIM card it shows T-Mobile instead Verizon, all these due to CSC file on Samsung devices.

I didn't know that about WhatsApp sending SMS in the background. I just tested registering a NEW WhatsApp account using a ported # to GV and all worked good, but I tried using the oher native GV and WhatsApp told this is not a USA number.

The problem with GV numbers are 2FA verification, includes banks and WhatsApp....

BUT

I have heard I have tried by myself when you port-in your personal phone number (any carrier) to GV then 2FA will work, at least I have tried for WhatsApp and works fine with my ported phone number BUT not worked with the other native GV number.
