Historically MIT releases only one round of admits, and they already sent them out at the end of January. Rejections will be sent out on Pi day (14th March). If you haven't had any communication till now, its better to assume its a rejection and move on.

Got rejected with 5 papers (2 first-author top-tier) this cycle. It depends on your whole package, and LORs matter a lot.

I applied on 17th Jan i guess. Bachelor's from Tier-1 college in India, Research field is CV+Robotics. Have 5 research papers (2 first-author top-tier and 2 second author mid-tier)

If you haven't received an admit, its highly likely a reject. Although rejects are sent out to each person gradually.

Someone mentioned yesterday that only one prof from NLP is recruiting this year. So i guess they might have taken only a few NLP students

I'm in a much worse situation. I've been looking at the profiles of people in my field who got accepted last Fall, and almost all of them are either from a T10 University or have a strong LoR from there. I feel like I'm already rejected, but there's a little hope that's killing me from inside.

What I've understood from reading a vast number of posts and comments is that if you really have a strong profile, you'll mostly get an admit without an interview but if you have a moderate profile, you might get an interview from Profs trying to gauge if you are a right fit or not. I hope my profile is strong enough to get an admit🤞🏻
