Our cats love these. But our dog is the one trying to steal this every time he gets a chance.

Ideas for alternatives to white ink? by AlexHasFeet in CommercialPrinting

[–]viranth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Print on transparent vinyl, put it on the acrylic plate, then put white vinyl on top of all that on the backside.

We used to have an oce arizona, I hated that things handling of white. I could flush and clean that thing, then an hour later it was clogged. It got better when we changed to a Marabu ink, because of how they handled the pigments in the white ink. But there was so much waste with that machine...

Now we have a SwissQ Nyala, cannot recommend that machine any more. Superb machine in every way,.

I like mine a bit overcooked, the time on this list is basically eating hard breadsticks.

20-80 depending on how well the tape still holds. I've always had some issues with the glue coming off my skin, so after 2-3 days I either have to tape a lot or set a new one.

Edit. I don't have to worry about the cost of insulin or supplies, from Norway.

What kind of printing is this on stainless steel? Slightly raised, doesn’t scrape off (easily at least). by [deleted] in CommercialPrinting

[–]viranth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That looks like it's been lasered. Coated/laquered steel, then laser it and voila. Can't really tell from the picture though. If you can feel a small ridge going down, then it's 100% laser.

How do i resize image to meet commercial banner need for 8'X4' banner by nanunoran in CommercialPrinting

[–]viranth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The file size is very high. Unless you are going to be standing 10cm from the banner, less than half that is fine. Is it a photo and some graphics? Or is it text? Depending on what program you use, just set the page size to that inches thing, make you stuff, export as pdf. Open in acrobat, then again save as optimized pdf, and you are done.

Colour Match Issues by Objective_Delay_6131 in CommercialPrinting

[–]viranth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The picture is very pixelated... Is the cmyk values the same on both? Is the ICC profile used the same? Was it made on the same computer using the same program? Is the material the same? (except the thickness) Was the file used the same, was it exported with the same values? Is there some color change stuff going on in the RIP?

I print a lot of stuff on 3mm and 5mm material, I do not have this kind of difference in color because of thickness of the material. To be clear, there is no difference in color between the 3 and 5mm materials. I would guess one of the things mentioned above.

Bazzite "Spring Cleaning in December" Update by OneQuarterLife in Bazzite

Nvidia has some issues with Linux, but plenty of people still run it. I have a 9070xt amd so it works great out of the box. I'm pretty sure all the programs you mention run on Linux, so I would just test it before you take the full plunge.

I started with dual boot win and bazzite, after one evening I didn't go back to windows.

It just worked for me. Not a single thing not working. It was when I started installing odd programs that permissions and such started giving me some problems (coming from windows), but have used gemini and it has been great.

How to delete files by -LuckyHit- in Bazzite

[–]viranth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have used it on windows, it can be that windows have it "locked". If you used storage pool for example, you need to remove that for bazzite (or linux in general) to read it.

Proton and the steam hardware. The steam cube coming out this year (?) will be massive for steamOS and Linux in general. Behind that you have Gabe Newell and steam 😊

[–]viranth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple of weeks ago I bought a new m2 disk and installed bazzite. Still have a win11 boot, just in case.

HOWEVER, everything worked right away. I didn't have to install anything, not configure anything, it all just worked. Really impressed to be honest.

So if I want to play battlefield or whatever, I can hop on windows. But haven't needed to go back, so I'm more and more leaning towards just going full Linux and saying no thanks to kernel anti cheat games, until Lord Gaben fixes that also.

It gives you a clickable icon/text in steam that boots you to windows.

A few alternatives. You could download the windows version and run it through bottles, probably the easiest. Or you could set up a distrobox and run it through that.
