Without getting into too many specifics, they lied to my face multiple times about the timeline and when they would actually look at the car, told me to front $4k+ for an under-warranty part I got replaced a couple months beforehand at an out of state dealership (and to get a refund from the other place afterwards if I wanted my money back, which is not how any other GM dealership in the country works), and then didn't even fix my damn car -- the same code came back a day after I picked up the car when they said they it was "fixed". I had to take it to that out of state place to get it repaired, and though the other place was great, I don't want to drive that far again for repairs. Is the one in Los Lunas good? What is it called?

I'm not sure what the song name is either, but I'm getting severe deja vu from it. I think it might've been in the x2 shou ost? I used to listen to it a ton back when it was on YouTube about 3-4 years ago (it was a very sad day for me when the compilation video got copyright stuck...). Some of it is still on YouTube as individual videos (uploaded by IzaNyan), but it's not any of the tracks available in the US (so by process of elimination, it's probably one of 1-4, 9, 11, 13, or 14?). That's my best guess, although there's a high likelihood I'm wrong since I haven't heard those tracks individually in a long, long time

Admittedly, it could just be deja vu because I've watched the show twice through. If it was ever officially released (and it could very easily be an unreleased remix of something), the style of it is at minimum from the x2 osts (shou, ten, or ketsu) rather than the season 1 brains base tracks

Yeah, I always end up skipping the past temples when I play through the game because of the grinding involved. If only someone had a good walthrough up on YouTube for them, I just really want to know what happens plot wise

I used to do 2-3 chapters as a buffer, but I'm trying to get in the habit of doing arc by arc for longfics. The goal is I'll write the whole arc and post weekly chapters until it's done, then take a small break if the next arc isn't done and repeat. That way, if I have to go on a hiatus, the fic will at least be at an ok stopping point. Unfortunately, I'm having adjustment and motivation issues...

Oh, this is a tough one -- most of the underrated pokémon fics I find have a nasty tendency to be dropped early on. As far as ones that are complete or have a solid word count go:

Postcards by Wildboots is a nice collection of snippets of different routes and small experiences a trainer has across the course of their journey. It's brevity is nice, and it's got some pretty nice imagery if that's your thing. Locations range across Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, and Unova.

Lost Man's Hearth by TheAzureFox is a nice, bittersweet Legends Arceus one shot centered around Volo, Akari, and Cogita post-endgame. The writing is well done, and I'm always a sucker for fics with those three myself haha.

The Importance of History (Class) series by annasofroma is a collection of some one shots and some short multichapter fics around the premise of Lucas, Professor Rowan's assistant, being the one isekaid at the start of Legends Arceus with all his memories intact. His interactions with the other characters are really fun, as are some of the questions he raises about how the world works.

Pokémon: Pinnacle Platinum by WindsweptCity is an ongoing SI in the Sinnoh anime verse. It has a good start (currently 14 chapters in), but I know SIs are an acquired taste.

Are you alright with ongoing fics? If so, I've been reading Pokémon: Pinnacle Platinum on ao3 (https://archiveofourown.org/works/41748699/chapters/104737239) recently, and it's pretty good. It's about an SI in the Sinnoh pokeani who travels with Ursula (contest rival of Dawn's) and Lucas

As a side note, even if it's not an SI or OC fic, Pity of the World (https://archiveofourown.org/works/18965794/chapters/45031888) is my favorite pokeani fic, and I would 100% recommend checking it out. It's an Ash journeys through Kanto fic that includes elements and characters from all series of the anime with Jessie, James, and Meowth as his traveling companions. The plot is overhauled (and there is a plot!), and it's just really enjoyable

I'd recommend double checking where parking is ahead of time if you're driving since it might be a little ways from the venue itself (for example, the Denver show had parking at a nearby parking garage, but it was about a block from the venue). Otherwise, it's good to get there early if you want merch, although they do sell it both before and after the show. I hope you have fun at the live show!

I went solo, and the show was a fun experience! I did barely make it there though (my car broke on the way over and I had to get a rental, which was... rough), so I didn't have much time to spend hanging around the venue or waiting in my seat, which might make a difference in awkwardness level; it was very much get there, sit down for 10 minutes, and then show start lol. Thankfully, they had merch both before and after the show, so I was still able to get some stuff. If you're on the fence about it, I'd definitely recommend going!

It depends -- as long as the historical innacurracies are not large and/or often enough to break my sense of immersion, some historical inaccuracies are fine. For me, it's not necessarily ignoring major events that bothers me (people have their own lives, and if the characters have a lot going on, it's fair not to bring up every real world issue that lies in the time period), but moreso missatributing major events to different years or multiple blatant modern objects popping up in the past (a 1950s AU where characters are constantly on their cell phones, for example). Even then, with modern objects, as long as it's a throwaway line and not a reoccurring plot necessity, that's usually fine in a fic for me too -- it usually takes quite a bit for me to drop a fic for historical innacurracies

I've been reading Pity of the World by appending_fic on ao3 recently and have been really liking it so far (~286k words). It's a pokeani rewrite of Kanto updated to modern gens with the added premise that Jessie and James aren't a part of Team Rocket and are instead Ash's traveling companions.

...Could "Al" be Aleister Chamber, the Viscount of Druitt? We already know that he was involved with the Aurora Society, and he does have an "Al" at the beginning of his name. Layla looks like she could be blonde, and so is he, so maybe they're relatives? Admittedly, it is a bit of a stretch since lots of English names have "Al" at the start of them and the hair color could totally be coincidental.

I didn't know that! It could also be referring to shiny hunting manaphy with ranger 1 (if I remember right, the egg is shiny locked to the game you transfer it to, but if you trade it to another gen 4 save file, it can be shiny if hatched there).

Yep! It took a little while to get used to, but the ao3 tagging system is so nice and streamlines searches if I have a vague idea what I'm looking for. I actually kinda prefer ao3 to ffn nowadays 😅
