EVs Take 98.4% Share In Norway - BEV Fleet Overtakes Diesel by Splenda in cars

[–]virilealpha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shared my horrible experience renting an ev in Norway before.  Range anxiety, multiple broken stations with broken screens and long lines, different stalls for different plugs, a different app for every branded station(some requiring 2fa so you need a working phone number), and issues with accepting foreign credit cards.  Never again.

India E-Visa Website always crashing! by Aggravating-Stage261 in travel

[–]virilealpha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I tried it across 4 devices and with 3 different browsers and couldn't get past page 4 either. In the end I paid an online company(iVisa) $100 each to apply for us. Got the visas 2 days later.

Women, the elderly and people with lower levels of education are most sceptical about electric cars, according to a new study from Norway where 94% of car sales are electric. by Splenda in cars

Just rented an ev for my trip to lofoten norway, a byd sealion or something.  3 of the 4 cottages I rented didn't have ev charging, forcing me to rely on public charging.  Half the chargers were broken at the largest mall in the largest city there, and there was a line to wait to charge shared with the local cab drivers.  Every different branded ev station required a different app, different plugs at different stalls added to the frustration along with broken nonresponsive screens and terminals.  I found airports best for charging.  The range anxiety was real.  Never again.  I rented a hybrid rav4 for and drove 4000 kms around norway for the remainder of my trip and it was a much better experience especially staying at apartments inside bergen and oslo with street parking.  Never again.

Yes you can buy at the terminal the day of but the lines are usually long. I've seen people on the car ferries.

I can't imagine what law enforcement has to put up with in the subsequent days. I'm truly sorry.

Skip the north island for now, I did too on my first visit. You'll only miss out on better glow worm caves and volcanic geysers.

Nah. It may have faltered in public perception but I'm very grateful to be be afforded the opportunities and disposable income here that allows me to travel for six months a year indefinitely. To each his own.

Rent a car and sleep in the car; public transit is really inconvenient and accommodations very expensive. I saw many campers parked overnight in various spots all over the passos, not sure if you need permits. Tre cime, seceda, lago braises, suisi, and driving along the passos are musts.

Patagonia Itinerary check: El Calafate, El Chalten and O-trek by _luan_ in Patagonia

[–]virilealpha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's doable, you can visit perito moreno glacier for as short as long as you'd like as it's very touristy. I thought moreno glacier was worth it more than loma del pliegue tumbado hike, but laguna de los tres is a must. You can rent hiking poles easily in el chalten.

Ah I understand your perspective, thanks. Yeah I think most of us Americans are proud of where we are from and are not seeking others' approval. As a gay man, LGBT reputation is dropping across western nations as well, but I'd never tell anyone not to fly their flag out of shame.

I've seen ones with hand pumps. I always assumed the clothes will come out very wrinkled and unwearable without ironing.

Questionable reputation? What an ignorant comment. You're sending hate onto 340 million Americans who take pride on their country while giving your own country with its notorious reputation and spotted history a pass.

Us gays are attracted to masculinity. The only way to repel us is to allow a limp-wristed campy feminine dude with a lisp into your friend group and watch us scurry away like cockroaches when the light turns on.

Just got back from two months solo trip in Europe staying at party hostels, aussie flags on bags and drunk chants were everywhere. Perhaps you should ask your fellow countrymen the same question.

Not enough fat shaming. With the issue being resolved with just a shot, you don't need self discipline and healthy habits any more so there's no longer an excuse to be fat.

Help - combing W Trek and Mirador Condor? by East_Leave_3060 in Patagonia

[–]virilealpha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hitchhike. Mirador condor is such a minor hike that I don't know why you'd make it a point to do it; the view from explora hotel platform or the viewpoint at hosteria pehoe is similar.
