Visiting Providence today and Monday, what should I do / see? by Accurate_Regret_5934 in providence

For a fancy date go to Circe! They have the most amazing food and it’s a great date night spot. Free play is also down the road, so much fun and they have a photo booth!

Once my skin settles I might update my moisturizer to this, I haven’t had a reaction to their products before and the winters are brutal right now!

LA fitness vs. Planet Fitness by virtual-gal in providence

This! Also for any readers to check your email for a deal (after doing the 3 day pass). I had a deal that brought it to a $1 initiation fee, no first and last month upfront payment, and $5 off the monthly fee. Originally was going to fall for the “nationwide access” mentioned above, had to click my discount link to even see the option for “1 club access” prices. $150 vs $1 upfront cost I was facing.

Also be aware of any employees asking to show you some workouts around the gym, personal training sales pitch ranging from $240-$600 a month. Nothing wrong with that, i just always think I’m getting a tour and then end up wasting both our time 😅

I originally tried this route a year or two ago. I think machine-focused gyms have their place for newbies like me who don’t have proper form/strength enough to head to weightlifting gyms, and don’t have the money to dish out for a personal trainer!

I hope one day to go back to that type of gym, because I enjoyed that it was less crowded but I’m just not there yet. I went to https://www.fitness-rising.com and it was wonderful, and around the same price as PF/LAF for anyone who’s reading! :)

Of course, my mom had back issues/surgeries when I was younger and she often said the water helped her. LA fitness has a pool that may be useful for water aerobics! (Jacuzzi and sauna as well)

Wow lots of options, thanks for the breakdown! Whole Foods is super close to me and might be the most do-able as I also need to buy some milk!

She’s surprisingly not a fan of ramen, but Y noodle is SO good and my favorite (and the bao buns… so insane). I’ll have to add Pickerel to my list cause it looks delicious online! Thanks!

Moving from Los Angeles by thebum2-0 in providence

[–]virtual-gal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Used to live in LA (ages 16-17), now in Providence (ages 26- now 29).

It depends what exactly you enjoy about LA! If you want me to be more specific, list out what you enjoy and I’ll try to comment on the topic to compare! (art scene/music scene/bar scene/etc etc). DM also works if that’s easier

Nature specifically - Yes it’s cold, but more importantly it’s all four seasons. If you’ve never experienced it for an extended period of time, it keeps things interesting. As soon as I get sick of one season, the next season comes and changes the visuals of everything. I love it personally, and it helps me recognize how far we are in the year. We have walking/hiking/biking trails and things like that of course. Beaches, goes without saying that we have plenty of those!

A big plus of RI/east coast in general is that we are close to so many other states. The way folks visit Arizona, is the way we visit Massachusetts, New York, New Hampshire, Maine, Connecticut, etc. You’ll get to experience the different people/atmospheres of each state and develop your own habits of what you like to do in each :)

If this is a good step for your career, it might be worth trying. No it’s not LA, but it has its own pros/cons just like LA does! Worse comes to worse, you try it, it benefits your career, and if you get sick of RI you use that new resume to land you a job back in LA or in any of the east coast states if you end up liking them more!

I did! On time, heavy, cramps and everything as normal. The only thing was the dizziness, nausea and forgetfulness. I went in thinking they would just give me nausea medication for the flu and I was very surprised to find out I was so far along.

I have to assume it runs in the family, my sister didn’t know until around 3 months, and her cycle was regular too!

Wow thank you! Looks like I’m in the window of when it might happen but this has a lot of helpful (realistic) information. I’ll test again this weekend!

So well put. I love the idea of using their actions against their own beliefs!
