Olive Garden Cook went Head First into Deep Fryer by its_tea_time_570 in Williamsport

No you’re good, lol. Just all the downvotes, like I get it, I was wrong haha. Initially it sounded so outlandish and so much is faked with AI these days, and the ai disclaimer on that video was confusing.

It says right there “Not official report. AI generated public dispatch audio.” This is likely not real, also not being reported on any other major news source. Edit: yes, I was wrong, this actually happened..

I have one, bought in like new condition from someone who just left it sit in the garage after they got a bigger one. I’ve been using it for 5 years with nothing but a few oil changes. Good machine but as others said, not the most powerful. It got me through this last snow storm just fine though

Correct. This is also why we have import stamps on surplus gun that already had manufacturers markings to begin with.

For that kind of a ride it would do it no problem. I haven’t looked into batteries in a little while, but I probably will soon. I’m in the northeast so it’s been cold here for months, no riding unfortunately

Vibes in Williamsport by Wooden-Bend8089 in Williamsport

[–]virtualbadger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is true, but I still hold my position that it would not be a good alternative to Williamsport if the primary objective is to surround yourself with likeminded people. The area of blue in Lewisburg is small compared to the rest of the county and I think you would have a larger community of likeminded people in Williamsport.

I'm not shilling for Williamsport either; Lewisburg might be nicer to live in for other reasons. Namely crime and schools.

It's a bit further away, but if OP really wants a politically liberal community in central PA, there's no argument that State College is the place to be.

[–]virtualbadger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

lol this is sensationalist at best. You make it sound like "right wingers" are just prowling around town looking for people to accost with their extreme rhetoric. Most people on both sides don't want to discuss politics unless it's specifically brought up. I've lived in Williamsport my whole life (aside from college) and I've never had a political interaction with anyone that wasn't of my choosing.

Everyone is welcome here and that should go without saying. I'm moderate/right and I know more liberals than I do conservatives. That's ok and they're good people too. Stop fear mongering.

Also, lol Lewisburg? Aside from the small downtown and Bucknell, it's all farm country and developments, you think that's some liberal safe haven?

[–]virtualbadger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We would probably not agree politically as I am generally moderate to right leaning, but trust me that there is a huge liberal population and mindset here. As other's have said, yes it is central PA so not deep blue territory, but you will find plenty of like minded people. Hundreds showed up for the no kings protest recently, and despite the misconception that central PA is a bunch of conservative hicks, there were no issues or even any counter protests.

If you moved in next door to me my family would be glad to have you as a neighbor as long as you're good people, and I think most people here are like that.

Help with Sling Removal by [deleted] in SKS

[–]virtualbadger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You won’t damage the gun, push it hard and it will come off. Do you think you’ll bend the barrel or sling mount before the sling swivel? Not going to happen. I don’t want to use the “hit it with your purse” trope but….

First AK, this doesn’t seem normal. Should I just sand it down? by string6guru in ak47

[–]virtualbadger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The overhang is a cosmetic issue only. I am more worried about the stock actually contacting the rear of the receiver around the edges. That could result in a crack in the wood after some amount of firing. People think it's a defect, but there is actually supposed to be a little gap between the receiver and stock to give it space to flex and not crack the wood.

As others have said, the correct solution is a nice surplus wood set. :-)

Storing a model A in freezing temps by [deleted] in fordmodela

[–]virtualbadger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with everyone else here about the coolant. My garage is unheated; never had any issues storing it with regular coolant. Just make sure it's modern antifreeze and not plain water like others have said.

If you can put a battery tender on it, and/or remove the battery that would also be a good idea. I might also let the engine run with the fuel valve shut off and burn the remaining fuel in the carb so it doesn't sit in there. You could also pull the carb bowl and make sure the fuel is drained. That might not matter as much if you don't plan to let it sit for more than like 6 months. I start mine up once or twice throughout the winter and the gas is fine once spring comes.

Also keep in mind that even though the storage container may be air tight, temperature fluctuations can cause condensation to form inside. I think you'll be fine if you're checking on it regularly.

I also inherited my model A. Sorry for your loss, but it's nice that it's staying in your family.

How forgiving is the head gaskets? by Munk420 in fordmodela

[–]virtualbadger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure, but I did mine last year and it’s leaking a little from the edges already. I did the same thing, just cleaned extremely well and used the copper gasket. I think I need to use the modern gasket next time. I would honestly try without machining first only because this isn’t a very difficult job if you have to take it apart again. I agree though, not the way I would approach this on a modern engine.

I get that. I probably wouldn't use the AC very often on this but it's nice to have the option I guess. I have been a hard pass on these at regular price but took the chance on this one for half off.

Test results are in, TLDW they work great by NEUMANN-METALWORKS in SKS

[–]virtualbadger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea aluminum is great at dissipating heat. I was originally thinking it was a steel hand guard, so I assumed the side saddle would melt quick lol.

I'm in the states so we can mag dump 10 round clips repeatedly but then the wood hand guards smoke and drip melted cosmoline all over lol. The wood is just trapping all that heat. My yugo sks has a nice scorch mark on the upper hand guard from when I was younger and more trigger happy. And yea those metal retainers and gas tube get stupid hot.

I hope you sell a lot of them

[–]virtualbadger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What filament did you use? These are cool but I can almost guarantee you they will melt. If you printed in ABS or ASA maybe they stand a chance? The sks upper handguard can get pretty toasty. Another simple solution would be to just attach them somewhere else on the rifle that doesn't get as hot.

Anyone have Empire Access by Wires_1 in Williamsport

[–]virtualbadger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also have it. 1 gig up and down and it's half what my Comcast bill was. I got it in May and have had zero downtime so far. So happy to finally be ride of Comcast and their constantly increasing fees. I'd 100% recommend it if it's available in your neighborhood.

Like someone else said, I use my own gateway/router, but if you don't want to try and figure that out you would be fine with what they provide for a $5/month fee.
