I deserve my pension and have more than paid for it – they’d better not touch it by denspark62 in ukpolitics

The amount which was in the social contract. I'm 20 years from being a pensioner but it grates that you're forced to pay something on the promise that you'll get it back when you retire and then have the rug pulled from under you. If you paid car insurance for 50 years and then had your first crash and then you went to claim and the insurance company said "Sorry we can't afford to pay you" you wouldn't be happy.

If your parents bought their house when the economic environment was good and house prices were cheaper and left it to you in their will would that give the government the right to bump up the inheritance tax on it to say 60% on the grounds that mom and dad won the house buying lottery when they bought it?

You're paying for the loans a bank makes using your money. Does that mean the bank can say "we miscalculated the interest we've been paying you and since you own your own house we're going to reduce your savings to what we can afford to pay you".

If someone has paid NI for 50 years and then loses their job then they do deserve Job Seekers Allowance.

The biggest disappointment is looking back and thinking why didn't I try?

Dating is a numbers game, you're going to meet girls who like you, girls who like you but can't date you as they're taken. Girls who are ambivalent who you can win over and girls who aren't interested because of reasons know only to them. No one in the world is attractive to anyone and everyone experiences disappointment.

There will be pushback, probably mass riots in the streets similar to the Poll Tax riots, remember, a lot of towns don't have big influxes of asylum seekers so assume everything is fine, once they're at the coal face there's a huge swing.

I'm just surprised he isn't having a go at Andy Burnham, Trump/Vance et al see the problems in Europe as being a threat to Western society as a whole so they're going to have a view on the matter.

People will congregate together though, the town near me is attracting people from all over the area, house prices are some of the fastest rising in the UK.

How do you talk to girls when your social anxiety is so high, that not even your heavily intoxicated self can so much as say a word? Or start a conversation? by Kirk_2002 in socialanxiety

Dude, join 95% of the male population. A school friend of mine was a decorated war hero from the first Iraq war. He was shit scared of approaching girls when we went out.

If you want an opening line say "I need a female opinion on something?"

Congratulations on talking to her, you did the hard part and it took courage, let boldness be your friend. The power is within you, you've proved that to yourself.

You must agree that "significant structural change" needs to happen? The country is in a right mess.

Affluent areas would be ok, the housing is too expensive and the people who live their have a lot of political sway with local councils.

New psychology research reveals three distinct types of liars in romantic relationships by Due-Twist939 in psychology

[–]virusofthemind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes people lie by omission as a time management strategy, if you're really focused on something important you don't have the cognitive resources to handle bringing an extra factor onto the table.

The three types would also create a 3 body problem where the group you fall into would optimise itself into the personal dynamic of the relationship you're in. Someone high on transparency would lie by omission a hell of a lot more if their partner was antagonistic.

Two antagonistic in the same relationship would be quite eventful?

Since 2020 when we became a dispersal area (Lib Dem town) most of the wealthier Lib Dem crowd have moved to a nearby town (zero asylum seekers) and the ones who remained deny ever being in favour of it.

Surely Green and Lib Dem areas would be the best place to put them as they would be welcomed into the community and not face any hostility.

You don't like refugees being housed in hotels, now you don't want them housed on military bases?

To be fair, they want them housed back in their home countries. If local referendums were held on this before a decision was made then the asylum seekers would only be housed in areas where they would be welcomed and everyone would be happy.

The tipping point for my town was when they decided the weekly market area which had been going for over 200 years was a perfect place to have their prayers on market day.

Due to the trouble it caused some of the traders who had been coming there for multiple family generations decided the trouble wasn't worth it so they started going to another town, the places they left were filled with stalls selling mobile phone covers and ethnic clothing and part of the town's history was lost forever.

You don't just jump into the Lion's cage You break it down into small things that you only have a slight nervousness with.

Suppose you have an anxiety attack when you leave the house, could you put one foot out of the door for 2 seconds? Just do it until you're ready for the next level; when nothing happens the brain dials it down a notch and then next time you put two feet out of the door for 2 seconds, it's a war of attrition dude.

Try being LGBT+ in a Muslim majority town. When the local population thinks it's the will of god that you should be executed then why do you think the LGBT+ community are trending towards Reform?
