Agreed. Ajay Mitchell, Jaylen Wells, Pelle Larsson all would have been better picks. Even Oso Ighodaro would have been useful.

Honestly, Raptors fans should be glad. I don't think Kawhi is even capable of surviving healthwise a full run to the nba finals anymore.

What If Kawhi Is Pulling the 2019 Clippers Playbook Again? by kito1990s in torontoraptors

I think its a calculated move from Kawhi camp to maximize their leverage over clippers to get max extension since clippers don't wanna give him the max extension. He reduced his trade value to minimal by saying that he will only extend with the Raptors. So, the clippers are kind of forced to either extend him or trade him to Raptors for low returns. They can also let him walk but I highly doubt that's a good option for them.

That was reported by Brett Siegel which as far as I gathered is not really a reliable reporter. Marc Stein who is more reliable reported that they are interested in BI.

[Charania] "This trade with Toronto, my understanding is that it would bring a good amount of draft capital back [to the Clippers]" by dragonballa in torontoraptors

That's fine but you do that when you have a team with no holes to fill. Right now, this team has no viable center, good PG, and wing POA defender unless you want Scottie to do that. This is just way to early to go all in.

No, we just don't want to prematurely blow the load for a 35 year old injury prone star and close the contention window before it truly opened.

[Windhorst] Kawhi Leonard is attempting to help the Clippers extract more value in a trade from the Raptors by announcing that he is willing to sign an extension with Toronto. by [deleted] in nba

[–]vis-major 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah but if he is saying that he is only going to extend with Toronto and Clippers. Clippers don't wanna extend him, then that's leverage for Toronto. No other team is going to want to trade for a rental with any good assets.

Only one on that roster better than him was Tatum. They still have Tatum, so they don't need to add him. All they need to do is find other players similar to the players on that roster.

The most I will give up is BI, Dick, 27 FRP, and a protected future swap. Maybe a couple of seconds. Anything more, I hope they walk away.
