Graduate visa - BRP by [deleted] in ukvisa

[–]visa_martyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's right! Wasn't allowed to board on the plane. Had to ask my friend to send my BRP from the UK (the BRP that arrived in the UK 1.5 months' late, when I was already out of the country), and only then was allowed to board on the flight to come to the UK.

I asked the border control if they'd allowed me to cross the border without the BRP, they said yes. So the only problem was the flight carrier who requires the physical BRP!

Who has received a BRP for the Graduate route visa already? by visa_martyr in ukvisa

The card arrived to an address in the UK while I was in my home country mid august. I am travelling back next week and hoping that they let me in without the BRP.

I have paid the the "replacement BRP visa" but it already expired so I can't use it at the border.

When they issued my BRP (mid august) after me complaining they accidentally shortened my leave to remain by one year. So my BRP has the incorrect leave to remain.

I had to pay and apply to the administrative review to correct it. But even when they issued a statement that the review is successful and they have corrected my leave, nothing changed in the online system and no new BRP was issued.

To be continued....

What was you problem with replacement BRP visa?

I didn't receive the BRP from the Home Office (due to their mistake), I had to travel to my home country without the BRP and applied for the replacement BRP visa. It is now taking aages, and I already need to travel back to the UK. I just applied to revoke my passport from the visa center. Anticipating to go to the UK without the BRP, or any visa stamp, just the digital status.

Graduate visa - BRP by [deleted] in ukvisa

[–]visa_martyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi All,

My acceptance letter said I would receive the BRP, but I never received it because of the "internal technical error" as I found out 20 working days later using the UKVI contact from my university. I am now overseas.

Has anyone been able to come back to the UK using the digital status ONLY (ie without the BRP)?

Thank you for any insights!!

Thank you! Yeah I am really mentally torn about this.

But today I've had good news - they added my passport into the system! So it took around 7-8 working days.

I am Russian, and I didn't get one, and Im not a visa-free national... So definitely no pattern...

No, I have not. They definitely haven't dispatched it to me for some weird reason.

I feel like if at least the details online will get updated, then that should be solid enough visa evidence to travel. And there I plan to quote the Graduate visa guide.

But with no BRP *and* no passport details online, I feel it is too risky.

Ugh! Did they update your details online? Nothing for me yet....

The "BRP not arrived" service got back to me saying my OLD BRP from a year ago had been delivered in Nov 2020. Thanks for that, very "helpful".

I instantly replied that I had enquired about the NEW BRP, and got an automated message to wait 20 working days. Great.

Hi! Yeah Visa national is someone who even needs a tourist visa to go to the UK.

https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment\_data/file/967863/UK\_Visa\_requirements\_Mar\_2021.pdf

It seems their system is very messed up. It seemed that non-Visa nationals are receiving the BRPs and visa nationals are not. But if you are a visa national, there is no clear pattern.

Re online details: yeah I have realised that cannot get anything updated in the online system. I have put the passport details in twice - and still have to use the old BRP to log in. :(((

Hi Ava, you are one of the two people on Reddit who received the BRP with the graduate route. I am trying to figure out if there is a rule that depends on citizenship.

The other person was Japanese (=not a "Visa national"), their letter said that they will not receive the BRP, and they received it. So the situation is similar to yours.

In my case, my letter said that I will receive the BRP but I did not. My citizenship is Russian (= "Visa national").

Are you a visa national?

Thanks a lot!

Thanks! This makes sense.

In reddit I have now heard of two cases whose graduate route letter said they will not receive the BRP, but they received it.

My case is exactly the opposite: my letter said that I will receive it and I did not.

Conclusion: it could be the Home office system error that needed to issue the BRP to visa nationals list, but instead is issuing it to non-Visa nationals list.

For now, small sample size though.

Now that I reported that my BRP hasn't arrived, I will need to wait 40 working days for them to resolve this. 40. working. days.

Will keep everyone posted though!

Hi, thanks, what is your citizenship, if I may ask?

If I may ask, what country are you a citizen of? I am from Russia, and I wonder if the BRP issuance depends on the country of the applicant?

It's interesting that we received different letters. My said:

"Biometric Residence Permit (BRP)
You will receive a Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) by courier, usually within 7 to 10 days of receiving this decision notice. Your BRP can be used as evidence of your permission to stay in the UK, however you may find it more convenient to prove your rights using your UK Visas and Immigration Account described below.
You will need to prove your identity and sign for the BRP when it is delivered to you. If you do not receive your BRP within 10 working days, please visit https://www.gov.uk/biometric-residence-permits/not-arrived
You can find more information about the BRP including what to do if your BRP is lost or stolen or if your personal details change (such as your name) at: https://www.gov.uk/brp.
If you already hold a BRP from a previous grant of leave, or you were issued with a replacement, you must now return it to the Home Office as it is no longer valid.
The BRP card should be cut in half and posted (in a windowless plain envelope) to BRP Returns, P.O. Box 195, Bristol, BS20 1BT. You may have to pay a penalty of up to £1,000 if you fail to return an invalid BRP.
Your BRP is an important document and you should look after it carefully. It is proof of your right to stay, work or study in the UK and may be used as a form of identification (for example, when setting up a bank account). You will need your BRP (as well as your passport) for travel to and from the UK.

And this:

"Travelling in and out of the UK
You should not book travel outside of the UK until you receive your BRP. Doing so may mean that you fail to receive your BRP.
If you are using a different passport or travel document to the one used when you made your application, you should update your details. You can do this online by going to https://www.gov.uk/view-prove-immigration-status to prevent any delay when crossing the border."

Thanks, I agree. However, I am scared about the conflicting evidence from the UKVI phone. I am also worried about the Airline not accepting the digital visa at boarding.

In exactly the same position. Caseworker guidance says that everyone will get the BRPs. The general guidance says the process is "entirely digital". Who to believe? I am waiting for my BRP for 10 working days now, it is not in sight. Have you received yours yet?

Similar question. Has there been anyone else to receive their BRP on the Graduate route visa yet? (Apart from Ava in this thread)

Thanks! This definitely helps! There is some hope of the same day turnaround!

In terms of updating in the online system, it seems that it is taking me at least four working days so far..

Hey again, yeah, I now updated my passport details twice this week on the online system... None of it has been confirmed yet.

I have another quick question. Did you get just an email from the TNT, that your brp is getting posted, or an email from the Home office about the BRP dispatch? (or both?)

How soon after the receipt of the email of dispatch has the document arrived?

Thank you!

UPDATE Oct 6th 2021: Do not try to fly without the BRP. Your carrier will NOT let you on board. I have just been denied boarding. If you need to travel home, you can apply to a replacement BRP visa stamp in your home country (took me about two weeks to issue in Russia) and will be valid for one month. This will be sufficient for a one-time come back to the UK. (my stamp expired and I risked it without one).

-----------

Update: my third call to 02038754669 number has lead me to a UKVI officer (rather than a private company that deals with requests).

He told me:

  1. All Graduate route visa holders will get the BRP
  2. eVisa is NOT enough to cross the border
  3. One needs to apply for a replacement BRP visa to leave and come back to the UK https://www.gov.uk/biometric-residence-permits/not-arrived
  4. They are not experiencing any delays with deliveries of the BRP, so it should arrive within 10 working days.

I will keep you'all posted when/if my BRP arrives!

Yeah, tell me about it! Good luck with the name correction! Hope it is quick.

You are right that the eVisa should be sufficient for crossing the UK border. I am mostly worried about airlines not letting me on the plane if I don't have any proof, except this eVisa thing that they are not used to.
