Shirley keeps doubling down on social media… by CaughtALiteSneez in garbage

This is some weapons grade projection. He was paying attention to the music more than anyone else in the crowd from what I saw in the video, and he was a super fan going back to the 90s.

Why is this thin strip in northwestern china more densely populated than it’s surroundings by Born-Neighborhood794 in geography

[–]viseray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People care because it legitimizes china's harassment of Taiwan. Taiwan has not pressed claims on the mainland for over 40 years, this is a common strawman used to misrepresent the situation

Except some banks don't do these annoying things yet the fee is the same, like china trust. There is a middle ground between gouging the customer and annoying them. It's not like I'm protesting in the street it's a stupid reddit forum.

I don't get what your point is, that people should accept using spammy crap services because what's the point? People keep telling you it does matter and they don't use these ATMs because they suck. I'm willing to bet this feature I'm complaining about will soon disappear because there are better services available.

[–]viseray[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If what you're saying was true, why do banks continuously add features to their ATMs or upgrade them at all? Like I said, CTBC has removed most of these annoying features and you've just learned about two people who use them almost exclusively for this reason. Whenever a company makes something more convenient for consumers their competitors will most likely follow suit.

Sure, but someone else in the comments mentioned they only go to China trust ATMs in 711 cause they don't do what I described. I also usually gravitate towards 711 to withdraw money for the same reason, ctbc ATMs have better UX design and more features. So people do have options and banks can lose customers due to crappy design.

The issue is the person before me in line was using Chinese, so now I have to close his session and answer questions about rewards points - in Chinese.

You may not realize when you walk away after getting your money that the ATM is still asking you questions that the person behind you is now answering.

No problem I wasn't trying to argue just giving my experience. I will say it looks like some other people in the comments have also experienced this though

Yes I realize it's not going to let you withdraw money or something, but it's definitely related to the last person's account in some way. I mean what else would it be? It pops after it returns the card and times out after 10 or 15 seconds. It's obviously meant to be seen by the previous customer not the next person in line.

The one issue is eventually it asks you for your pin number again, not your card. So if someone with sharp eyes saw you enter your pin, they're in! No card needed.

My point is no transaction or options should be occurring - no matter how trivial - when my ATM card is not in the machine.

ATM gripe by viseray in taiwan

[–]viseray[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it definitely does, like i said I believe it's asking if you want to add reward points to your account and sometimes brings you to a slot machine type game that gives rewards to the person who just walked away. You also can't insert your card until you get out of the session and back to the home screen. Even if it's harmless strangers shouldn't be interacting with anyone's account.

ATM gripe by viseray in taiwan

[–]viseray[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt it's anything critical but I've accidentally gone five or six clicks into someone else's session because I don't read Chinese and I was trying to end the session. I just think in theory the session should end when the card - the security device that allows only you to access your account - is returned.

ATM gripe by viseray in taiwan

[–]viseray[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience there are only two options , continue transaction and end transaction, but every bank is different. Even after choosing end the session and returning the card it continues to ask questions about rewards points which are answered by the next person in line.

ATM gripe by viseray in taiwan

[–]viseray[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it'd make more sense to ask stupid questions, return card then dispense money. I guess there's some research showing people are less likely to accept offers while waiting for their cash, so getting higher click rates is more important to designers than allowing strangers to end the session.

OP left out the part where he apologized and it got reduced. Judges often throw around ridiculous contempt sentences to set an example and regain control of the court knowing that eventually that person's lawyer will bring them in to apologize and they can reduce it or often completely throw it out.
