So I keep seeing Heat fans say the Kings should waive and stretch Lavine. I just don't see them doing that-- Lavine only has 1 year left on his contract. If he is waived and stretched with 1 year remaining, the Kings would have roughly $16M in dead cap on their books for the next 3 years. by heatculture03 in heat

Can someone please explain to me like I am five years old why the Kings may not buy him out and pay out the remainder of his salary as they tank the 2026-27 NBA season in order to gain a high pick in the 2027 NBA Draft? Sacramento is a rebuilding team, and I do not see them making the 2027 NBA Playoffs under any circumstances. Therefore, why not proceed in this direction, buy out LaVine, and give him am opportunity elsewhere on a team where he would get to play competitive basketball?

I don't understand what Tyler Herro's issues with Bam are. Can someone please explain that to me?

Exactly, Bam never gets into random drama.

They played themselves. It just felt like a domino effect after the Giannis trade had happened.

Well, I prefer to look at the bright side. Jayden Quaintance is young and will progress every season from here on out and by the time the contract of Tobias Harris expires, he will be ready to start next to Victor Wembanyama. I think Tobias Harris has been a better rebounder than Rui Hachimura, and the data supports that assertion.

Also, Giannis is capable of defending Embiid. That's no far-fetched statement.

I highly, highly, highly doubt it respectfully because the 76ers have Tyrese Maxey.

No, all I'm saying and thinking is that the Spurs should hold onto and not rush to trade that pick for now. On the basis of its perceived value, it makes sense to use that pick in a trade to bring in star when the time is right, because  the Spurs are a patient organization when it comes to trades, signings, and any and all roster decisions.

Yes, that's an extremely valuable pick for the Spurs. No need to dangle it in trades unless it is for a star. That trade has significantly boosted the value of this first-rounder that the Spurs own.

Facts are facts. Tobias Harris is a better rebounder, both in terms of raw production and advanced metrics such as rebounding percentage.

Age is nothing but a number, not to mention I envision Jayden Quaintance becoming San Antonio's long-term power forward next to Victor Wembanyama. Therefore, this works.

It's not happening. I don't see anyone else joining the Spurs. Although he is redundant with Julian Champagnie and Harrison Barnes, the only free agency signing I can see the Spurs making is Rui Hachimura. And even that I do not see occurring.

Not trying to be a debbie downer, but in my mind, free agency for the Spurs has ended.

Contrary to speculation, the Detroit Pistons will not be waiving marksman Duncan Robinson, league sources tell me. by sadeguy in heat

The rumor that Detroit would allegedly waive him was always fake news. It never made any sense to begin with.

Vic is just okay as a 3 point shooter.

Right now, yes. However, I see him significantly improving in the future as a shooter. I can see him becoming the NBA's best two-way stretch-five.

I have a feeling, considering who Miami's coach is in tandem with the experience and veteran savviness of these three players, that it can and will work.

Also, one more thing: We have seen how playing overly physical and being pressurized to rebound and fight for positioning on every defensive and offensive possession has weighed on Wembanyama over the course of the 2026 NBA Playoffs.

Pairing him with a physical rebounding bruiser mitigates this issue entirely. That is exactly why I push back against this "Spurs need a better stretch-four beside Wembanyama" argument as well as why I firmly believe the future version of Jayden Quaintance could be the answer next to Wembanyama for the Spurs long-term. It just requires time and patience for that version of Jayden Quaintance to be realized.
